    2. Solo ads
    3. Forum marketing
    4. Blogging (including blog comments and guest blogging)
    5. Getting affiliates to promote my products (buyers get on my list)

      Pay close attention to what frank has suggested he has nailed it . those 5 WILL build your list for you effectively.

      Other things frank has not mentioned viral product giveaway , joint venture product creation .

    If done correctly, producing free guides and reports can work amazingly. I think a lot of people are intimidated by attempting this method, but once you take the leap you'll see that it's not all that hard. It's actually very rewarding sharing your knowledge.

    Forum commenting
    Blog commenting
    Bookmarking

    I also update my blogs weekly with lots of top quality information too. Success in list building comes from a balance of on site and off site work, very much like SEO, which I feel are very closely related anyway.

      Hey, I like solo ads, normally I can cover back 60% of my investment, plus I get the subscribers that I can followup in long term.

      Beside this adswap is my second choice. Just need to find some quality partner to swap with

    By far the quickest way to build your list(s) is to participate in cross-promotions with others that work in the same niche as you.

    This takes many forms:

    - swap ads
    - swap space on thank you pages
    - swap space on unsub confirm pages
    - giveaway events
    - etc.

    (from the guy who created the internet giveaway event)

    JV's and pop-ups.

    Pop-ups are giving me bad results lately tho. Similar if I'd just have a opt-in box in the sidebar. It is pretty much just becoming a distraction for visitors that needs to be closed.

    JV's on the other hand are great if you don't get scammed. :/
