Redirect or Direct Link?

When doing a 301 redirect from one URL to another (site A to site B), I'm understanding that the value of IBLs associated with site A will not pass through entirely to site B. My question is, how much of a loss are we talking about? If the loss is fairly significant, then I'm wondering, in terms of passing link authority, would I be just as well to simply place a link on site A to site B?

    Hi,

It depends a lot on if you are doing a redirect to an exact copy of the content/page or if you are redirecting a page with specific content to a page with content that is partially or totally different.

Do what you can and then just continue building the site B authority and links.

As for now, both pages are exactly the same. I do plan to make some minor changes to page B -- like add more content, maybe expand the description tag -- but the topic/niche will remain the same.

I would definitely go with the redirect. It's much more professional, and you'll maintain a good portion of your backlink juice.

Yes redirecting does have its advantages like backlink juice for example and also you can keep track of people who are coming to your site from a particular URL. It helps you to sort things out and be precise.
