"Regularly rather than irregularly" is what matters, more than the frequency.

Once a day, once a week and once a month can all work. Today and tomorrow and the next day and then nothing more for the next 6 weeks is not so good at all, however you look at it.

The more regularly (NB not necessarily "the more often") you update, the more frequently and reliably search engines will index your new content.

In theory, I update all my niche sites with some sort of new content once a week (I don't quite manage that, really ), and Google almost always indexes my new content within 24 hours and sometimes a lot less.

In my view, Its better that you update your blog twice in a week. This will make the search engine happy

    Hey wiliki,

Your question is too vague, how long is a piece of string?

It depends on what your goal is for the website, what kind of
website it is, how strong the competition is etc

    Can you elaborate?

I update my blog daily sometime 2-3 posts in a day lol

If you will update your blog daily then your returning visitors will see something new daily and they will keep on visiting your blog on regular basis

    Regards

Consistency is the key. It’s best to update your content every few days, as long as you have something valuable to add/share. Don’t update your page just for the sake of it. Make sure to always add value to your readers!!

As much as possible update your blog regularly and frequently especially when Google is now looking for fresh contents. You can update your blog at least once a week. If you make a lot of blog post today, schedule them so you will have fresh contents each week without literally writing them every week...

Every 3 days is okay, if you have 9 blogs then update 3 blogs a day. Hope it helps.

As much as you are able to write unique, quality content. It's as simple as that. If you have a couple hours to spare and you are able to create a new 500 to 750 word post (some say as low as 300) then do it. More unique, quality content is better. Having said that, if your question is asked looking for a way to reduce the amount of content you write, then that really does not matter. Even once every few months will be good enough to keep your site relevant for most Google queries... this of course doesn't take into account what your competition is doing...

For the most part, I update my blogs weekly. It's enough to stay relevant and to keep my options wide open for unique content.

there is no a definite answer...like what Nathan said..the answer depends on your goals and also your niche competitions...for example, if you are just building a small niche sites, doing it every 2 weeks should be okie...

I'm not a pro, but what I have learned is that keeping regularly updated [once in 3 days or so] will keep it a good ranking and results. My adsense earnings increased when I kept on posting twice per week

I think as long as you are posting new unique content.. it will help your online visibility to grow more in SERPs

I agree with consistency. My formula for most of my blogs is 3 original post per week and 3 or 4 referenced articles, videos, or "of interest items" that my readers would benefit from.

You can write everything at once and schedule it out so something is posted on a regular basis - daily, every other day, etc.

I disagree with posting more than once a day (unless it's for some important rare reason). Remember, most of us ping the posts to multiple sites (or one ping site is default), so posting multiple times can look a little spammy IMO.

There's nothing written in stone, but you need to update your blog on a regular basis. I would say at least a few times per week -- especially when your blog is first live and you are trying to gain some traction in the search engines. Once it's been around a while, you don't have to update as frequently, but you will still need fresh content to stay on top.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Alexa and some of the others are right - there is no "magic" answer. What you need to focus on is getting yourself on a schedule and sticking to it. For example, if you update your blog once a week, your readers are going to get accustomed to that schedule. If you suddenly go 2 or 3 weeks without adding anything new, you'll wind up losing alot of traffic because you've gone off your schedule and people think you don't have anything new to offer.

Like alot of the folks here, I try to update my own blog at least 1 or 2 times a week (admittedly, it doesn't always happen!) However, one thing that I do - that you could definitely benefit from - is write a whole bunch of posts when I've got some downtime. That way, I have stuff "in the can", so when I get insanely busy, all I have to do is post something - rather than trying to find the time to come up with an idea, write it, and post it.

  • This question comes up regularly. It seems everyone is looking to put in the absolute minimum amount of time posting to their blog.

I have a suggestion: Stop blogging. Seriously.

If you don't like to write, don't feel comfortable writing, don't think you're a very good writer (and have no desire to improve) or the only reason you have a blog is because people tell you you need to have one, stop it.

If you can't wait to write something for your blog, some answers or tips or story, great. (But then you wouldn't be asking this question, would you?) if not, stop. Stop right now.

    You're wasting your time.

Readers sense your lack of enthusiasm, as evidenced by dry, boring text devoid of passion.

If you don't care about your blog, no one else will.

Use your time more productively. Blogging is not for you.
