Any Indian IM'ers here getting screwed over due to a retarded decision by the Government?

Paypal due to a decision they claim is imposed by the Reserve Bank of India forces Indian merchants to autowithdraw their paypal balance each day.

Now thats may seem like a good thing, but when a customer asks for a refund you dont have funds in your account. If you try to add funds from your bank account, you get a message that this option is not available.

After several support tickets one rep asked me to "send money" to the customer as a refund using my credit card and that she'll reverse the transaction fees MANUALLY!

= opening a support ticket each time i need to refund and explain the situation to every damn rep that answers those tickets...= a royal pain in the a**

So apparently the Geniuses at paypal never thought of this scenario...

SO i moved to plimus in october. In NOV they told me that due to the guidelines imposed by the RBI, they cant process credit card payments for me.

Today they say i can only use moneybookers as a payment option and that too for one time payments, for recurring billing products they expect my customers to phone them up and order!!!

Way crazy..

So are there any Indian marketers here that sell software and have a working solution??

I would suggest you to try Clickbank. It can also be used as a Payment processor & is used by many!

    Hope this may help you.

Try to get EBS, or ccavenue something like that.

Of course they will only work with you if you are incorporated.

    Yes, PayPal officially sucks.

But then I wouldn't worry too much about the transaction fee... I can deal with it once in a blue moon. Refunds are rare. I'd suggest staying with PayPal until you get EBS.

    Hey bro,

There is an easy solution to the above problem u mentioned

whenever someone asks for a refund and u have zero balance, without opening any support ticket or talking to any rep

u can simply add balance to your paypal via your credit card

Although it is a bit more costlier, but then again, that saves u the hassle.

    Hope this helps

  • What exactly is the RBI reason for this? Is it exchange rates...or what?
    Seems awfully screwy...

India always have a very strict guideline on employment, and money management. But sometimes this overprotectiveness backfires when they "overdo" it, like in this case. I wouldnt blame it on Paypal, but more on RBI. In any case, Paypal might be working on a solution for this, and maybe worked that out as a temporary measure- so dont leave it out yet.

Have you guys tried opening offshore merchant account, and then transfer the money in for the time being?

Use your credit card for refunds.

After the Mumbai terror attacks, RBI had started cracking down on anything that could be a means of money laundering or hawala. Paypal did have this loophole that anyone could send money anywhere and to anyone. Now you are forced to use a credit card, so the transactions could be identified.

I think the reining in by RBI, though a bit inconvenient, is a good move.

I think you better stick with Paypal & when sometry to get refund use your credit card linked with Paypal to do refund. This is the best available right now.

You can also try 2CO, they are good & you do need to have a paypal Account. 2CO pays you via wire transfer.

Alertpay also is good option for Credt Card payments & they are following RBI Guidelines, then they have a issue with Card Processing recently all over the world which they are working & hopefull to be solved with in 10 Days or so.

RBI has set the regulations to follow the Anti Money Laundering system. It hurts the IM sector but then it also saves many Indians for being screwed up by many spammers/ organisations around the world.
