Help!! Im a new member, rate my website! etc

Basically I started looking into this Internet Marketing 3 months ago...I bought a domain and did nothing for two months (i do work 50 hour weeks in all fairness). Even so, I have been a keen browser of this site the entire time but havent actaully joined up until today.

Three weeks ago I created my first 'website'...I cant add a link as I need 15 posts but this is the domain.... topfantasybooks.net ....I was wondering if you guys could help a noob out with some constructive criticism? What needs changing etc

I have also bought both Angela and Pauls backlinks packets this past week, Ive only had time to implement Angelas so far...., now as I said..im a noob... how long before these links start showing? the tools I use claim I have no backlinks at all...infact my site doesnt show on google either, seem to be processing a lot of information right now so any noob-friendly advice would be great.

Thanks for your time, hope to get to know some of you over the next few weeks, months and years.

Arran

It's a nice site and it has plenty of real content, so you are off to an excellent start. The site has been indexed by Google.

I'm guessing you have done some initial keyword research, as "top 10 fantasy books" looks like a potential long tail keyword that would be good to target.

When you are backlinking, make sure you use the phrase "top 10 fantasy books" as your anchor text. This should help raise you in the rankings.

I've never used Angela and Paul's backlinks, but we wary of linking from sites that are just used as spam factories for links. I prefer to use social bookmarking sites and links from other sites that I own.

Paying attention to your onsite seo is the best place to start. There are several plug-ins you can use to help you. Go to Add New in plug-ins and type in seo. I sometimes use one for internal linking and also one that allows you to add the search terms that people have used to find your site into a sidebar widget.

Add an seo plug-in - such as all in one seo - so that you can add descriptions and meta-tags, keywords and titles to each page.

You have a nice niche there, so write some articles, add them to the blog on your site and then submit them to some of the article directories, such as ezinearticles, goarticles and articlealley.

Once you've started using the blog, make sure that, as well as using all the facilities provided by your seo plugin, you also add keyword targeted tags and categories. Every little helps and the onsite seo really is key to getting your site loved and ranked by google.

Don't fall into the trap of keyword stuffing articles - this makes them clunky and unreadable. You want your site to be aimed at real visitors so you can make real sales.

I know it would be difficult to spend some bucks on the site at the beginning, but I would suggest you get consulted by some SEO pros here on WF

You don't need a minimum number of posts to create a signature file and put your link in it. You'll get a lot more feedback. Good luck.
