Ebook Vs. App! Which Makes More Money?

Which would make more money?:

1 - a $47 horoscope ebook
2 - a $.99 app that sends a FREE horoscope to your handheld device
3 - a FREE app that sends a FREE horoscope to your handheld device, then links to website where you can buy other merchandise
4 - some other variation on the theme
5 - OTHER

Thoughts, please.

all you have to do is tweak and test them all and keep the one that makes you more profit. There is no need to only try one of these and no one can tell you for sure which one will produce bigger profit

      Thanks Mark.

I didn't think about doing them all at once... it seemed expensive and impractical.

But, I guess tweaking and testing multiple platforms would help me cover my bases so that a competitor could come in and burn my market before I had a chance to make any profit.

Why not roll them all out... one after the other? Take the time to promote and market the book properly. Pick up customers and to market the book even more allow people to download the free app after you have captured their email address for future promotions of the book.

It's about leverage... Use the free app to build your list and market your book through the app and through email. Then contact other marketers in the same space and offer their ads in your app for a fee.

Okay! That's making sense. I was only thinking of an "either/or" solution. Now, I can see a how multiple products would work together.

Who knows... you will have to test this. I personally use apps to build leads. I even use real books (and kindle books) on Amazon to build leads. I then sell them the more expensive stuff.

But what I've seen as well is that it is different for every market I am in. So like Mike suggested, create them all and start to test. Change your variation every couple of weeks and then, based on the numbers, decide what worked best!

  • I agree with Mike, that leverages a good idea. Having an app, e-book, and other forms of media just increases your marketing exposure.
