The links take me to a YouTube page that tells me
You are already signed in, sign out if you wish to sign in as timpears.

I have a hard time believing this is true, but it looks genuine to me at least. Any thoughts?

Start by typing the Youtube url in your browser bar and logging in from there, just like you would for Paypal. If there is a problem with your account, you should be able to see it from there. Either resolve the issue or forward the email to YT's abuse address.

My guess is that the 'sign out' link takes you to a phishing page where they want your login details.

What Happy Hooker said is a very good start!
(Edit: What John said! lol Sorry John I just glanced and read happy hooker!)

Hopefully that is the case and your account is not getting deleted

I had mine deleted awhile back so just a fore warning to be on the safe side I would make sure all of your videos are saved to your computer.

Hope everything works out with the channel!

      Cheers,
      Chris

The thing is that I don't have any videos posted on YouTube. I have an account, but never have used it for anything. I have never made a video in my life, and not about to make one any time soon.

Do you know for sure if you ever completed the registration process? Because if you created, didn't confirm, and then forgot about it this email might be legit. I've gotten one like that before.

Of course to be safe I would do what the above poster suggested and go straight from the YouTube URL.

ALWAYS login from the real site ... but you can smell a phishing scam by hovering over the link. The anchor text they use will make it look real, but hovering will reveal the true URL, which is almost always different.

But if you aren't using YouTube ... why do you even care?

I got the very same email and it was legit. They said they would be deleting all non confirmed accounts on Dec 4th so it could be real. But if you don't have any videos and don't plan to make any then its probably not a big deal for you.

It is legit. Google are making you sign into youtube with a gmail account so will need to link the YT account to gmail account.

I was using a yahoo.co.uk and you are using a comcast.net to sign in with.

Just setup a new gmail account and link to it.

At least that was what I had to do.

Yup, like others have said, log in to your YouTube account manually, but this is very likely perfectly legit.

Over the past several days, YouTube has been cleaning house on inactive channels. Several of us were freaking out when we saw the number of unsubscribes coming through, but then it was discovered that people weren't actually unsubscribing, it's just that they had stopped using their channel.

Which is actually a good thing for even those of us who are partnered, because who wants subscribers who aren't active anyway? They might inflate your sub numbers a little, but they aren't viewing your videos. :-)
