Moving Wordpress Sites

It depends on your existing hosting. Do they have a backup utility in a Cpanel? - if so you can create a backup of the whole site and the database and save them to your desktop. Then upload them to your new domain root and unpack them through Cpanel. You could have an issue if the server paths are different on the new hosts, so you may have to manually edit the wp-config.php files. If non of this makes sense then you may need to pay someone to do it.

You could also ask your new host if they'll do the transfer and setup for you. Many do, and it could cost as little as $10/site.

That's weird. You should be able to install the wp plugins directly from the Wordpress dashboard. I've never heard of that issue before.

If you do need to move your WP sites, then you might look into WP Twin or the new hosting company should be able to do it for you. WP Twin is a plugin, so that might give you issues too.

Why is the hosting company saying you can't upload any plugins? So, all of your WP sites are just plain installs with no plugins?

The hosting company is a shared hosting and the reason they will not allow me to use pluggins mainly from WF.Auto Amazon posting etc is that their server crashes with the amount of traffic they produce.

Also they have startted to block any traffic which they consider junk traffic,eg Traffic Ad Bar,solo ads etc.Even if they are junk traffic i still get sales from them !!!!!

Here's the quickest and simplest way of backing up a WordPress installation to then move to a new hosting account.

Assuming you have no plugins that use MySQL databases with data you need you could use the WordPress built in backup feature that allows you to export all your WordPress content.

This then gives you a file containing all your posts and pages you can import into a new installation of WordPress.

Then you just upload up your theme to your new WordPress install and activate it.

Be sure to first backup your theme first by downloading it if you edited any of the theme files at all.

The fastest and easiest way to move Wordpress is with Backup Buddy....It will do Add on domains easily.....

I've moved over 100 WP sites with Backup Buddy, never had a problem...

Just do a Google on Backup Buddy to find the main site
