Hi

Are any bloggers on the warrior forum making 10K per month?

If so, what are you blogging about? Is it something general or waaay micro niche? What platform do you use? Haw many visitors do you get per month and how do you monetize...? How many hours would you say you spend online working per day?

I ask because I dont see much from the bloggers on here its mainly info sales, seo and when I do see the blogger come out of the wood works they are usually talking about the same stuff we all are.

    It's a curious question, Andrei.

You're apparently classifying people by the type of software they use to build their sites. Someone who has a Wordpress blog on something-or-other which has plenty of affiliate links and an opt-in, and builds a list from their blog and promotes ClickBank products, earning $10k per month from it, is qualified and their answer is "yes". Clearly they're "blogging"? Someone doing exactly the same thing with a static site which they update three times a week, rather than one made from blogging software, has to answer "no" and they're not "qualified" for this thread?

What's the difference between a "blogger" and a "non-blogger", in internet marketing terms?

Reading your question, I honestly don't know which you'd regard me as.

    I'm "just saying" ...

And to you "info sales" and "blogging" are somehow mutually exclusive? Why's that?

    • lol...

something that has been on my mind Lexy.

The lines are blurred and so has the definition of blogging.

These days - well at least around here - the term blogging seems to relate to posting articles and reviews along with a bunch of ads and affiliate links.

But because these affiliate sites are built on wp then people are bloggers.

In my book, a blogger is someone who is an authority in their niche and writes about it... like John Chow and Seth Godin.

      Massive difference.

  • I know I'm going to get bit by the wordsmith for this but here goes

It sounds like he is classifying people as bloggers and asking them what platforms they use. Not software, but platform, and isn't a static site a platform?

Wordpress and other platforms are definitely much fancier with all the php and databases built on top of the html code. But still, I can see myself replying to the OP explaining I use a static website.

In order to be a blogger, you must own a blog. A blog is a website containing a writers or group of writers own experiences, observations, and opinions... continued

It sounds like you are a blogger

  • I think there are a lot of bloggers on this forum. But, I guess people are more interested in what they do with their blogs. Info sales (a way to make money) and SEO (a way to drive traffic) are just some of the topics discussed on this forum.

    To answer your questions,

I am a blogger. I have made $10,000 in a given month before and I hope to do it again. My 2012 Challenge is to make a net profit of $120,000.

I own both microniche websites and larger websites. There is potential to make money using both types of websites.

I monetize my blogs using Adsense, ads from Affiliate Networks, and sales from information products. I also profit from my blogs when I sell/flip them.
  • By definition of what a blog is here, I am confused as to whether my site would be counted as a blog. It is by rss submit places so I would figure so. In any event, I am not earning 10K a month but I wish I were because then I could quit my regular job if I wanted to lol.
  • I started blogging a few months ago and I get ~1K visitors per day on one of my blogs. The money I make is only ~$100 from it if not less sometimes... and it's most likely because of my choice of micro-niche. But I guess I don't care about the money on that particular blog - it's more of a stress reliever than anything else.

I have been working on a new way to monetize that traffic though, so maybe it will be more than just a blog? Who knows!
  • I'd define blogging not so much by the platform, but by the activity, community, and interaction. The platforms such as WP merely facilitate everything.

Blogging is foremost a relationship building exercise. You strive to build a relationship with as many people in your niche as possible, using the blog content and interaction to do it.

Once you build the relationship, monetization is much easier.

    • And a purist like myself will agree with this description.

Many blogs - sites that look like blogs - don't have the community and relationship aspect to them.

They are merely seo-centric websites stuffed with kw articles in order to drive organic traffic... in the hope that visitors will click on an ad.

Not exactly what I'd call real blogging... but it's not for me to judge.

To me, a blog is my hub site where I invite my friends over to hear what I have to say. And then build trust and a relationship.

This means that I create pretty much all my own content... because it's me. SEO whilst important is a lesser consideration.

Submission, rss etc is more important because I am looking for relationships.

@Alexa. I don't blame you for non disclosure. I often wonder when people ask what basically amounts to seriously personal questions. It's a ballsy move if nothing else.

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • There are bloggers making that kind of money. They typically
    are micro-niched.

I sent you a link via PM showing how :-)

    Yes, I agree.

I didn't know whether how I make a living would be considered "blogging". I never do. The distinction between a "blog" and a "non-blog website" seems to me to be more or less arbitrary, these days. You can use the most well-known brand of blogging software just as a CMS and make websites with it that look nothing like blogs at all. Equally, you can have a (technically) "static site" and update the content every day. Who knows which is really a "blog", and what does it matter?

I was thinking this, but then Andrei apparently differentiated between "people selling info products" and "bloggers", whereas I associate the two together, myself. So I wasn't sure.

    I don't know.

Probably. My sites are, technically, blogs. They just don't look like blogs. Well, having (perhaps unwisely) come this far, I'll answer some bits, then ...

Sorry, I don't disclose my niches. I suspect that few in non-IM niches here who are earning over $10k monthly are disclosing their niches, really?

    Neither - they're just "niches".

    Mostly TypePad.

Sorry, I've learned not to disclose traffic figures (it leads to arguments), but I monetize by building lists and selling (mostly) ClickBank products by (mostly) email marketing.

It varies a lot, for me. Much of my work is writing (I'm an article marketer) but I don't have to be online to do the writing, of course, only to publish/submit it, which is much quicker. I do tend to be online for many hours, though, because I'm at the computer anyway, so I'm "online" and I'm "working" but for much of the time I'm not actually "working online".

Well, I think you'd call all of mine "info sales", really.

If ClickBank affiliate sales isn't "info sales" I'm not sure what is?

I think Steve Faber's post just above summarised my opinion, anyway. But at least we established that I'm a blogger.

    • Alexa, just curious as to why you use TP instead of WordPress? One of my most successful blogs ever was on MoveableType, but everything since has been on WP.

  • Blogging is hard, you've gotta really like writing, or at least be able to write a lot of words fast every day. Easier to create products and promote them through blogs/websites in my experience.

  • You should check out Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income blog.

He discloses how he makes his money blogging and it's a lot more than 10k/mo. Pretty inspiring to me.

Most do seem to be through affiliate links on his blog.

  • Hi Willie,

Any chance of that link also?

I've been learning IM and blogging for a good few months now and have made about $17!!!

Just starting to ramp things up a bit now though.
  • Yes. One big blog or a network of micro blogs or both.
  • I guess I have about a dozen or so blogs, but at present, only one blog gets my proper attention - the Inspiration Blog at my main site.

I don't earn $10K from it yet, but, as I have already published my income stats at my site, I don't mind telling you that I earned >$3K last month and my revenue continues to grow. That is my total online income and it is difficult to quantify how much of that really is the product of my blogging activity, but blogging is my current focus and so I think you might now call me a blogger.

I don't go in for keyword research very much. I can, and do, land good rankings when I try, but they don't seem to impact my traffic too much so I just concentrate on writing good quality content for my readers and they promote it for me mainly via Twitter and Facebook.

As you asked about platform, I am in love with Wordpress. If I had discovered it sooner, I would have been much further forward in my IM journey I think.

    Will
