Turnkey Website - is it good option for IM Business?

Hi Guys,

I've just noticed the subforum "Complete websites for sale" on WF. From my noob understanding this is another name of turnkey website.

Someone once told me, there are only two ways to start IM business, which is "Money or time".

In other words,
  1. If you have money, pay someone to make IM business (make website, pay for traffic etc.)
  2. If you don't have money, use your time to learn from scratch.

Frankly, I'm intrigued to buy turnkey website. Moreover most of them already have google adsense and clickbank affiliate links, and they are niche websites.

In my understanding buying it is only the first step, I still have to do some works to build backlink and get traffic.

But I just want to be careful not to waste my money. So do you think it's a good option to buy turnkey website to make money online?

Thanks

    Hi richest,
Following are some of the main reasons due to which i would recommend you not to buy those websites.

    1) Someone has made the website and tried to earn form it. When he/she failed , he/she decided to sell it. I am sure that most of the websites there have some special issue regarding search engines and traffic.

    2) Anyone who would be earning something from the website would love earn more if enough market is there in that niche. He/She wouldn't like to sell it when the fruit is ready.

I would rather recommend you to buy a new domain.
    thanks

Agree with this comment. Many 'turnkey' websites are manufactured for a quick sale, rather than optimized uniquely for whatever they are aimed to do, such as search-engine optimization.

I'm sure there are good turnkey options from reputable Warriors, you just have to sift through the mass-produced sites looking to earn a quick buck.

        Thanks for your replies guys.

That's why I always get curious. If they are really niche and profitable website, why don't they use it themselves and make money?

Ok, I got it. I decline to buy turnkey website.

        Thanks for your advices

I've bought and sold many niche sites in the past. Here's the reasons:

Buy: I look for sites that I think I can improve. I never buy a site that will just sit in my hosting account. If I can improve at least 3 things on it by looking at it (ex. Ad placement, content, layout, monetization methods) then I consider it. Since some already have traffic, this is a great way to get a site that is a proven winner from the get go. Just make sure you are positive that the traffic info is accurate.

Sell: I sell sites for two reasons. 1. I want fast cash to place in a different avenue. For example, I may want to create a site which will have a large budget upfront. If I sell 3 niche sites, I have instant money to invest into a project that I believe will make me more in the long run. 2. I have two many sites to give them the proper attention they require. If I feel I'm spreading myself thin, this a great time for me to sell some sites off so I can focus more energy on other sites in my arsenal.

I'm not saying other Warriors that have posted are wrong in their assumptions. Maybe they've had different experiences. These are just reasons I buy and sell sites. It's all in the research. Make sure you know that what the seller is promising is true and that he can prove anything he/she claims and you'll be fine.

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.

EricBaglio: Thanks for your reply. Looks like you are experienced in this field .

Let's see if there are others replies .

Currently I found a website that sell 25 niche websites package that is sold only $10. This got me curious because it's too cheap, and if I read suggestion from the warriors here, I guess should think twice to buy it. Even if it is only $10

    Hi

That 25 niche website pack is basically just a template. Even if it comes with all the content, articles and images - you will have to change all those so your site won't be identical to all the other ones he sold.

With these types of sites the most important factors are your domain name and keywords you are targeting.

If you can find a good EMD domain in the niche and re-title / re-write the articles to target your researched keywords, there is no reason you can't rank sites like these.

But I wouldn't call them turnkey businesses. A turnkey business is something that is already set up and running- or ready to run. All you have to do is manage it and run it.

These packs take work to re-write to your needs and then you still need to do backlinks and traffic.

They save a ton of time over doing everything yourself. Just make sure you get a good website package. Some are great but others can be no better than just using a free template.

I always advise everyone to learn to do it yourself first. Learn the basics about making websites and whatever else you plan on being involved with.

It will make you a lot more knowledgeable and it will give you a leg up when you decide that it's time to outsource. It's tough to gauge how much you should be paying and what is profitable and what you can improve when you have no experience in the field.

Just my .02. Best of luck.
