Second WP Site in a Sub Folder

Hi,

I want to install a second WordPress website on a sub folder but I don't know exactly how about the settings.

On the root domain I have a WordPress website installed having a static home page and several different squeeze pages.

I want to install a second WordPress website on the sub folder "blog".

Now I have some questions about this:

1) About the Google XML Sitemap. Do I have to create this sitemap on both websites or will the Google XML sitemap on the website on the root domain create this sitemap for the whole domain? (both websites).

2) Same for analytics. I use StatCounter for this. Do I have to create two projects in StatCounter and install them on both websites. Or will one project installed on the root domain create analytics for the whole domain? (both websites)

Hope you can explain me more about this and that you want to give me your advice.

Thanks a lot,

Isaan

You need to treat the site on the subdomain as if it were a regular standalone site. Meaning things like sitemaps and analytics accounts should be created.

I have used exactly this setup in a few places.
It works fine to use the same Google Analytics code in both sites.
You will probably have to treat the xml sitemaps as two different systems though. Most other services would be the same, they are two seperate sites, just in different places on the same domain.
