Monetizing a high traffic blog/website

Hey guys, I am completely new to the world of blogging but have been doing my due diligence to gather information to put a nice blog together and have it noticed. It will not be a traditional "blog" because it will be set up more as an informative website wirh daily posts and updates....and have multiple pages like a website does.

Anyways, I'm in the early wordpress stages and getting myself familiar using WP. I already bought corresponding domain names, began a Facebook and Twitter page, and know a thing or two about marketing it to gain traffic. Also, what sort of traffic is typically required to be considered "high volume"?

This brings me to the wonderful world of network marketing and monetizing a high-traffic site. This blog will be very target specific and focus on the creative industry: graphic and web designers, animators, coders, developers, writers and copywriters, etc.

Once I establish a baseline of subscribers, how does one begin to make money with traffic...other than Google ads? Thanks in advance and any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Anyone have suggestions?

Again my niche market is people in the creative/tech industry and I already have lots of great content to blog about once I get my site built and ready to go....what are some of the best ways to get paid once I get rolling with like 1-2k visitors a day?

    Thanks

do you plan on making the site be a sort of "marketplace" for designers, writers etc? You could create a forum for the site and have a paid section with specialized services, tutorials, etc.

That shows some optimism planning on monetizing you blog some day when it is getting high traffic. There are some ad networks that have a min requirement of I believe 50,000 visitors a day, but that would be the sort of traffic a more mainstream site might get.

Affiliate ads would seem to me to be the biggest earners for your specialty site, though thy require more involvement on your part, writing warm up articles. On the other hand I have seen more than one refer to Adsense as supplemental source good for 'paying the electric bill'

There was a trend for bloggers to share their revenue earning details a while ago, it might have been prompted by an article by John Chow, I was naive in not knowing just how many earned money from paid articles. here's a list if some of these sites:
