ImnicaMail Emails Going Into Gmail Spam? Anyone else having this problem?

Hey Warriors,

Just was scanning my spam folder before I deleted it and noticed a lot of marketers I respect in there.

Weird that I saw this so I looked and each were sent through Imnica.

Not complaining (doesn't effect me personally) but any word on this?

Cheers,

Brad

I use imnica. And mine do end up in the spam folder with gmail. At least when I sign up to my own lists to test it all out.

Same here. I'm with Imnica, and am thinking about going back to Aweber. Aweber might be expensive as hell, but how in the world do you work with an autoresponder series that just gets sent into the trash folder?

Yeah, I just went with them too. But I heard that Aweber sends all yahoo mail to Spam. Is that true?

Same here. I saw the WSO, thought they seemed great, good price, signed up and my welcome emails ended up in spam. Tried to send out a test email, went in my spam. They gave me a full refund.

I talked to Aweber's live support, they said only provider they are having trouble with is Earthlink and that most providers are. Trust that or not, that's just what they told me.

      Right now learning toward Getresponse.

This had become a problem but now it's been resolved (at least for me, I send test emails to all main free email providers to check).

So whatever tiff Yahoo had with Aweber they seem to have resolved it (for now at least).

Deliverability is key. You can't get to 100% but Aweber rates are solid.

Regardless of the ESP, get the IP address of their email servers pop them in here to check out their score:

      https://www.senderscore.org/

Aweber seems to always rank at the top.

SenderScore is fantastic, but, their score is a rolling average over 30 days, and does NOT account for ALL ISP's. Some of the BIG ISP's are NOT part of the SC network, so, is not counted.

Also, ESP's do NOT just willy nilly publish the IP's they use.

Even though our main IP has a SenderScore, it is no longer used for sending customer's emails. So, be careful with the data you get from SC. It's a good START.

I am not sure if yahoo is sending aweber to spam, but I do know that aweber is having many problems with blacklisting on several email servers. I asked them about this and the customer service rep coughed into his sleeve and mumbled something about "working on it". I recently ran a campaign to build a list on Aweber and the unverified delivery rate ran close to 20%. The rep couldn't explain it but said it might have something to do with this problem.

I was looking at Imnicamail and tested it the other week and noticed the same thing as well. Can't justify at move at the moment based on this.

Would love it if someone from Imnicamail commented on this issue.

    Hi,

Gmail is especially sensitive to engagement. Imnica Mail is NOT the only one constantly going to spam, and NOT all our customer do go to spam either.

All the big ISP's like Gmail, Yahoo and HotMail are placing a LOT more emphasis on actual engagement with subscribers. So, they look at, weather the email is opened, links clicked, and even how long an email is open.

So, the KEY is to get your subscribers to READ you messages.

The BEST way to ensure your emails stay in the Inbox, is to get your subscribers to add your NON FREE sending email address to their address book. This ensures the email goes to their Inbox, provided of course there is no other spam triggers in the email.

One of the best ways to do this, is to have instructions on adding to their address book, either as a Own Confirmation Pending page, or, Own Confirmed Page, which you can set in your list settings.

You can use the following 2 tools to generate the address book instructions:

    1. Whitelist Email Instructions Generator
    2. The Institute for Social Internet Public Policy : Personalized Whitelist Instructions Generator

We work tirelessly to keep all our sending IP reputation clean, but, at the end of the day, it is up to YOU ALSO to keep your list clean, as well as getting YOUR subscribers to READ your emails.

Richelo, I had really loved the features and the year price discount, but what about the two welcome emails after signing up going straight to spam? Doesn't instill much confidence when that happens.

If those already can't get through, I don't imagine it'll be easier for me and less people may sign up / opt in if there are additional hoops to jump though. Like the address book update.

Not trying to criticize, just my concerns.

    Thank you for the reply.

Welcome email is sent from our shopping cart and not Imnica Mail itself. Fixing this!

As for hoops ... Up until a year or 2 ago, ALL the other major AR companies actually had the address book update on their STANDARD confirmed pages, as well as telling subscribers to look in spam, mark as not spam and add to address book.

2012 is going to get a LOT more difficult for ALL email marketers, and people will really need to start working much harder on engagement.

    * Confirmed opt-in: You know everyone on the list requested to be on the list.
    * Single opt-in: You have addresses on the list that didn't request to be there. Guaranteed. 5-15% of all web form sign ups are bogus email addresses. There are plenty more that are valid but don't belong to the person that typed it in. That means you end up sending to people that didn't request it.

If you were an ISP, which would you put in the inbox more frequently?

My own experience with Imnica and Gmail has not been good, unfortunately....

I've very seriously tracked it, and 100% so far go directly to spam. ...and since Gmail probably represents 75% of my subscribers, it's a dilemma..

Fortunately, Imnica does seem to make it into Yahoo and aol inboxes, pretty consistently.

By comparison, almost all the Aweber and Constant Contact seem to get into the Inbox, and many are short messages and have many links.

I think Imnica would be a great bargain, the service support is excellent, the tutorials and the back office options are the best, and of course the pricing is outstanding.

....if it were not for the Gmail deliverability issues, Imnica would remain my choice. . (I do hope this can be solved, btw)

I also think it behooves marketers to support more than one or two established autoresponder services, or prices will eventually go through the roof for those remaining.

If what Richelo says about ALL the services suffering from this "Engagement Issue" is true, I am not seeing it from some of the other large services. ...and to think that a significant number of subscribers will 'whitelist' marketers is, I think, very unrealistic.

We are attacking this from ALL angles. Unfortunately, Gmail does not have a support department we can contact and deal with on deliverability issues like Yahoo and all the other guys.

That does not mean we don't have any options though. They are being worked on!

I cannot give any timeframes, but, we are taking the Gmail issue VERY seriously.

Not in all situations... I use single optin for most buyers list and seldom get bounces or complaints... I think it matters how it is used. But of course I understand your company pushing double opt-in

I've been with Imnica for about a year and a half - I've seen great improvements and I'm very happy and I still think it's a great value for the money... Actually the best value for the money...

I use also use Aweber, Constant Contact and Optinme and for the price the deliverability is comparable.... Is it as as good as Aweber? Not when sending to Gmail, but for 1/3 of the price and better inboxing at yahoo and aol - it's a trade off...

I personally don't have as many issues with my Imnica landing in Gmail spam, but I go to great lengths to ensure my messages have very low spam scores and I "follow all the rules" and I have customers that let me know when I hit spam so I can adjust the message. I also make sure to let new subscribers know that if they are using gmail they need to look in spam...

        here's a video I did ~> www.viral-pdf.com/thanks.html

To finish this long post (sorry) I want to add all autoresponders have their ups and downs - you have two choices ride out the wave or jump ship...

Pretty sure they were only down on Sunday, from a hardware issue that was out of their control. However, after one of their sales reps called me and left a message, telling me I could call if I had any questions and we could talk in the next few days, then I called her that day, left a message telling her I was having problems with my account and had questions, she emailed me back the next day saying it seemed like we weren't able to connect and she trusted that everything was going well. So.. tossed them and went with Aweber. So far so good.

I've tested sending mails to yahoo with Aweber and none has gone to spam. All get through to gmail as well.

            Hi Alexander,

As you mentioned, the problem was a hardware issue with a hosting center and was not 3 days, but a few hours on Sunday. Regardless of the duration, it is something we take very seriously.

I'm very sorry to hear that you had any problems at all. I would definitely like to address this on your behalf. Since I'm relatively new to the Warrior Forum and can't send DMs just yet, please feel free to DM me with contact info and I will respond either via phone or email - whatever works for you.

As for the general topic of safe senders and staying out of the junk box, providing people the information on your site and links to it in email on adding you to their safe senders list is good advice.

Here's one post on the subject from The eMail Guide which might be helpful: Email Marketing - How to: add anyone to a safe senders list - The eMail Guide

            Regards,

              Hey Jim,

As you may know, GR has huge issues with hitting the spam box too...

I contribute it to all the lead swapppers who trick GR into importing their list with fake screenshots... (bet many people didn't even know it was possible to import to GR w/o confirmation)

                Hi Coby,

Sorry! I missed this response. Actually, I didn't state anything about who has or doesn't have issues with spam folders. I was simply clarifying the downtime period issue and offering some general advice. As any ESP will tell you, the inbox has become a moving target and we all work hard to ensure marketers get their messages to the right inbox.

I sent you a tweet yesterday because I'd enjoy getting your feedback, good and bad about GetResponse. You obviously have some strong opinions and some insight and I respect that. I'll ping you again.

I'll follow up on your other comment as well. I hope we'll speak soon.

Just in the last week my imnica mails started to go to inbox not spam folder and I also found out that the analyticals only show if email is html and not text so I will use my blogger post to to change text to htm lthen copy and paste into imnica mail.Dont understand why analyticals can only be used with html though?

                  regards

none of awebers ips are blacklisted as of right now. the yahoo problem is heavily focused on "double optin confirmation messages" which are sent from separate ips and smtp servers than any of the normal aweber messages.

also the aweber issues vary widely from account to account. i have access to 11 different aweber accounts. 2 of mine and some from clients and friends.

i did a huge test monday on aweber. sending 10 different test messages using all sorts of different methods to 15 different major isp's with a ton of different variables.

the aweber issues very dependent on the each aweber account. there seems to be some sort of "sender score" value going on from each aweber account. i am not totally sure how this is happening as of yet because some messages were sent by separate aweber accounts using the same ip and same smtp server from aweber were having wildly different deliverability rates to the same isp email accounts.

honestly, i have not been able to figure this out yet and i have been doing this a long time.

I guess you have done much more testing than me and sent many more emails...

I personally sent over 300,000 emails every month for the last 6 months using Imnica only and loads more using Constant Contact, Aweber, Optinme and 3 others that I stopped using...

You can believe what you want - but I still get Aweber messages in my spam every single day! I had three this morning...

Other marketers that I'm in mastermind groups have seen this problem...

In fact, my friend James Sides estimates he has lost over $100,000 in the last 6 months due to the deliverability and his open rates plummenting overnight due to Aweber being blacklisted...

And many more of my friends have said the same thing and many went looking for other solutions...

So, believe what you want - I will believe what my data, my testing and my experience tells me...

Rather you think they are blacklisted or not - they are still going to spam...

I test this everyday... I also see this in my own inbox from other marketers...

It's just part of email marketing. I get tired of people saying one Autoresponder is better than another or one always goes to spam or blah blah blah and the person saying that has only used ONE autoresponder in their life...

Until you test them all you will NEVER know which is "best" and if you are basing it on "deliverability" this changes monthly, daily, hell even hourly...

        Hi Coby

If Aweber isn't working well for you, do tell us which ones are. How is Imnica's deliverability? I was thinking about switching back from Imnica to Aweber, but am a little less sure after your post.

        Is Getresponse doing well?

      GR is having problems too...

I use Aweber I also use Imnica (and others)

Just pick one and work within their system

I currently have the most emails stored at Imnica... but that's because I recently deleted 23K emails from my constant contact

an AR not havings its ip and smtp servers blacklisted is only a very very small part of getting emails delivered.

in fact, only the worst of the worst offenders usually show up on blacklists.

as for deliverability, for all its faults, aweber still has the best overall deliverability out. the only real challenger that is close is constantcontact.

the fact is that email marketing as a whole is getting much harder. its much harder for any of the AR companies to keep their customers emails out of the spam folders. the problem for the smaller guys is that they dont have the leverage to deal with the big boy email providers.

GR is actually a very small company as is inmcamail. aweber has less than 100 employees. the only real AR company that has enough legitimate clout to do operate with the big email providers is constantcontact. they are a publicly traded company with some big money and big contacts.

i have made my living online for about half my life now, and i would bet a pretty good bit of money that constantcontact becomes the dominant player. they are the only one i see with enough leverage to push the email providers to do what they need done.

several big name companies use constantcontact. very few big boys actually use aweber. these big companies are also going to stand with constantcontact to make sure they are not left out in the cold.

i still use aweber as my main AR, but i do see that it seems like CC is the only AR out there that the big email providers are going to have a hard time not listening to.

In my opinion Aweber can't touch Constant Contact's deliverability nor their support...

I have never ever ever ever seen a single constant contact email in my spam box... but I got 4 aweber and one Get Response in there today...

No Imnica in the spam box either today... Just mostly Aweber...

lol... oddly enough, i just pulled your "how to create ebooks?" email from CC out of my gmail spam folder.... go figure.

for me, i now spend most of my time testing aweber and CC as i just dont see anyone else really being able to play this game long term for a lot of reasons. but mostly, those are the only 2 i see with enough heavy hitter clients who can keep paying big money to fund the "get my emails delivered" campaigns.

those AR guys that are competing mostly on price, i just dont see how they will be able to keep up especially given the fact that their clients are also the ones making the most email marketing mistakes.

but i think we mostly agree that CC is probably the best AR out right now, and i see that trend continuing.

          Lmao...

          Well, there goes that theory...

But I still have never seen one there

Thanks David! We def agree on the CC trend - I mean come one - who doesn't like text to join lol. (text Coby to 22828 to join my CC list )

My bill was $250 last month at CC so I hope they are putting it to good use (maybe better optin forms)

Yup, I'm experiencing that problem. I got several list on imnica mail the results are pretty much mixed.

The problem is they don't have a lot of regulation and I think some abuse it to the point that the rest suffer.

I've seen some good results from them as well though to give them good credit and after all for the price they charge it's an incredible value...I only wish I could get more consistency.

Also I asked Richelo (great guy) this a while back and he mentioned splitting the double opt in vs the single opt in to different servers...not too sure where that has progressed yet though.

I have this problem (email going to directly to spam) with every single Imnica email I send to my gmail (not as a test, but as an actual subscriber)

    I use:
    ~plain text emails only
~A return address from a personal domain that I own
~Real name in the from field

    Nothin'! Seriously frustrated with this...

For about two weeks there is a serious problem in Imnica with Bounces. In some campaigns there is a bouncing percent between 10 to 20% of the subscribers, and they are removed from the lists, losing valuable subscribers. My support ticket about that took more than two weeks to be answered (regrettably, as usual), and they told me that they were solving the issue, but still nothing.

    Hey guys.
I was coming to warrior to post a warning to everyone that imnicamail is being used by spammers.
Then I decided to do a keyword search first, and found this thread.
It seems that email lists have been sold over and over again somewhere and all the buyers are on imnicamail.
So it is possible that people (like myself ) are sick of getting 20 new emails a day from places that they never opted into, and are therefore listing them as spam.
This would give legit list owners at imnicamail a bad rep along with the rest.
there is a high chance that it was sold as a product, a step by step version, as all the emails seem to be the same type of "old" spammy ones.
You know - where the heading says - about-your-cheque. or your-payment-enclosed. or $47-ready-for-collection, and other stupid titles that might work on newbies, but I even doubt that.
I have been unsubscribing a lot and decided in the end to alert as many forums, and lists as possible, to hopefully put a stop to the rubbish, but I suspect that those list spammers will soon realize that people are unsubscribing really fast, and they will move on to the next shiny thing.

Yes, I tried signing up for ImmnicaMail and it took a while to realize that all of their confirmation messages were going to my SPAM box.

Obviously not a good service to use for any serious marketing effort.

We've had some spammers get into our system, but, we delete them as quickly as we discover them, which is usually pretty quick.

Just a few days ago, we deleted 7 accounts who were all one single person, importing unsubscribed subscribers from Aweber.

We worked with a well respected Warrior who was on one of these lists. We managed to get the spammer's Aweber account shut down, hosting shut down, and PayPal account shut down.

I'm already getting spam from him again from another ESP!

We take spam seriously, and we close LOTS of accounts when they are found to be spamming.

Send ANY complaint, with FULL headers of the offending message to: complaints@imnicamail.com or abuse@imnicamail.com and we WILL take action!

We have MANY, WELL respected marketers using our service with GREAT success.

Hugo, it really saddens me when people feel compeled to come into a public forum and lie outright just to get attention.

I have checked your account for the past 3 months, and of ALL campaigns sent for the past 3 months, the HIGHEST bounce rate was less than 8%, and NEVER was it continuous. It was a few campaigns which had issues. There was one of about 7.6% and 4 of around 6.5%. The rest were all MUCH lower.

You were told we ARE aware that there were SOME users getting higher than usual bounces. This was NOT a global issue.

We could not just go and unbounce those subscribers till we identified and FIXED the underlying issue. That would just be stupid.

We HAVE now identified, AND fixed the issue. We will monitor for a few more days, and then unbounce the affected subscribers for the affected users.

Please, in the future, if you have a problem, and you want to make it public on a forum, at least state the FACTS, and not LIES. It helps no one, and you just totally discredit yourself.

BTW: This thread is about our emails going to Gmail spam. NOT about bounces, nor about spammers, or anything else for that matter. Please stay on topic.
