Using Internet Marketing for MLMs

I could use some input on this one. I am thinking of joining an internet marketing company. As you all know, the first things you need to do is bug your family and friends. Well, that is why we have internet marketing. But I am not sure on how to go about that. If anyone has an idea or if anyone currently does market there MLM through IM'ing, then by all means, throw some ideas.

Thanks,
Jay

Learn how to market good enough that you can persuade
others you can help them be successful. They have to
"believe" you more than they believe other promoters
to buy into your MLM instead of the 100s of other options
    available.

Build an opt-in email list where you reveal your character
and something of how to build a business online. You can
use a free report or course as a "carrot" to build a list
    if you want.

Then you persuade people on your list to go into business
    with you.

Most MLM marketing online is pretty retarded. If you read WF
and do some quality thinking you should be able to come up
    with something better.

Jay, I am speaking from my own personal experience of having been
involved with various MLMs over the course of 6 years.

Don't drag your family into them. Treat them the way you would treat
selling a regular IM related product.

Concentrate on stressing the benefits of the product of the MLM itself, not
    the opportunity to make money.

If the MLM has no viable product, then it is just a pyramid scheme and will
ultimately end up getting shut down. I have seen more than my share of
    these turn to dust.

If you focus on the MLM as being a product, you'll do a lot better.

However, if you insist on going the "opportunity" route, then focus on
building a relationship with the person. Explain how you can mean the
difference between them succeeding and failing and explain why. Make
them understand what you can bring to the relationship and how you
will be there to personally help them through the process.

Personally, I find most MLMs worthless, but that's just me. There are
very few out there that have real products that you can actually sell.

That's why when you find one like that, take advantage of it as they are
    very rare.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the subject and again it is based on my 6
years of actually belonging to several MLM companies...none of which I
promote for the opportunity, but for the actual products that they offer.

    Something to consider.

      Jay,
Steven hit on some great points. Having been in MLM or network marketing for 10 ys plus myself, i will share some thoughts for u that i share with potential newbies. Btw, i have been out for 4 ys, and am getting back in as we speak sometime in the next week. I stayed out because like steven said, if there isn't a real product , its a pozi scheme. I will go one past that, it really needs to be a product that is highly consumable, that everyone is already using everday. A product u dont have too convice people too try. If someone ever does MILK i am in. Heres some bullet points to think about, my last Team i built had in Excess of 10,000 distributors in it, and my sponsor had 49k on his team, so here is the inside track.

      1) You have too know why you are joining network Marketing and what u expect too get out of it. a business , learn sales skills, perhaps learning how too present in front of the room to 50-1000 people. Residual income/ u must have a real product here , direct mentorship by proven leader in the industry-- This can be priceless, many things i was taught by my sponsor early on i have applied to Real estate Investing, my seminar trainings and to my Offline Gold business. So first identify what u want out of your business.

      2) Picking a company--
There are a lot of good compaines out there, you need a real product,

A strong Compensation plan/ some form of Binary Hybrid is the best, u get paid on everything that sells on your team and from Spillover, spillover is something i always take into account.

A company with massive integrity-- your gonna wanna make sure your sponsor has direct contact with the Corporate side of the company, this is a huge asset, thats why--not just anyone should be your sponsor.

A Sponsor with a Proven Track Record, links to the company, and someone who can mentor you, someone who is qualified to mentor you. About 20 sponsors in each company really fit this mold. Lastly your sponsor needs to be available for you, not at your beckon call, but ready willing and able to coach you. So you have to have access to your Sponsors phone # and let them know u expect them too answer or at least return your calls in a timely manner.

Price point to get started- how much does it cost, 99.00-299.00 with product coming too your door for that price is perfect. Less than 99 u cant make money, over 299 in this economy most people cant afford to get started.

I could keep going on and on, theres a lot too look at, remember this is a business.

If u have any questions, feel free to shoot me a Pm, and u can call me if u like. Happy to help out fellow warriors any way i can. Hope this helps in your decision, it can be a fantastic business if approached correctly. Approached Wrong, and it will be a nitemare.

I'm not going to go into choosing a company to work with, but I think that is really one of the most important steps.

Next is building a list of people, I won't even call them prospects, at this point because you can get curious people on your list, and that doesn't make them prospects.

There are many ways to build your list:

        1. PPC -> Squeeze Page -> Opt-In.
        2. Generate Content -> Natural Search -> Opt-In.
        3. Work with other webmasters (such as my site list in my signature.)
        etc.

I'm sure you want a list yesterday.
I'm sure you want a responsive list yesterday.

The reality is that steady (daily) list building and constant relationship building with your list has and will always be a time tested and proven method.

MLM is a great leveraging tool, but it does take time and it's a numbers game.

I work with one MLM at this time online and have used 100% to generate my leads, but have also used teleconferences to talk to my people and I do think that IM with MLM go great hand in hand if you (or anyone else comes at it with the correct understanding and expectations... and of course backed with plain old work.)

        This is good stuff.

To all of you as well, thanks so much for the awesome information.

But, I got a very important question...

I was thinking of joining a company called AmeriPlan (a health care company).
You folks should check it out and give me some of your opinions.
I was in the company once before and quit because I didn't want to bug family and friends and couldn't afford a business at the time. Now that I know a decent amount of IM'ing and how it works, I am thinking of rejoining.

Thanks so much for you thoughts!

          Jay7707,
I will first respond to your question. Your success in any company depends on whether you believe in the product and you are passionate about it and your ability to market the product. That is why every network marketer thinks that their company is the best but most of them are not making money. What matters is you and the skills you have.

That said, some companies are so strict. A friend of mine has compiled a list of mlm companies, giving their pros and cons. You have to be very careful especially since some companies do not allow Internet marketing. Top Network Marketing Companies according to Annette Tush

I I stopped contacting friends and family for my business. My website generates prospects for me. An I am still a newbie on the net! If you check it out, you realise that I have different forms targeting different prospects. If you are interested in building a website, site build it has a package specific for network marketers.

Anyway, there is no secret to succeed in mlm on line at all. What you need is skills, how to deal with people using the consultative approach, phone mastery. From here, you set up your website, or blog or capture page, keep building relationships with these people. Do not pitch, just quality information, once you have built credibility, most of them will even request to join you in your business. I have seen this with my own eyes. And this makes mlm very enjoyable!

If you really want to succeed in network marketing online, here are the tools you need.
MLM TOOLS YOU CAN'T DO WITHOUT!

          Jay,
with any company, and i mean any there are a ton of pros and cons both. My biggest issue with ameriplan is 2fold, a) their comp plan sucks, period. b) saturation , i would suggest reading my post, and using that as a formula for picking a company. I dont recruit from the warrior forum period. If u have interest you know how too reach me. Definately use my post as a model for picking any company. I wish u the best of luck, it is a great industry, and only 1 of my income streams of 10 plus.

    Hi Jay

I've been a full-time network marketer for a couple of years now, and am just focusing on internet marketing to grow my business - so bear in mind this comes from an experienced MLMer but a newbie IMer!

Please don't go hassle your friends and family! In my opinion, this is one of the reasons network marketing has a bad name in some circles. Make friends and family aware of what you're doing, and if they're interested they'll start asking questions. If you already have the IM skills, there's no need for you to be hassling people who aren't interested.

From what I've been doing online, I think the key is to use IM to reach as many people as possible and allow them to quality themselves as being interested, and also to handle some of the training for your new team members so you're not investing your time handling the same old questions, etc. But I don't think IM can ever replace the relationship aspect of MLM, and I don't think it should. It's still vital that you connect with your new team members and show them that you care about their results.

But, of course, you can use IM to tell some of your story and start to build up the know, like and trust relationship that is really important.

    Hope that helps

    Katie

Internet Marketing is great for generating leads for your MLM.

However, many MLMers misuse Internet Marketing. They try to use Internet Marketing to totally replace the person-to-person aspect of MLM. That does NOT work.

MLM is ultimately a relationship business. To build a loyal downline, you need a tight relationship with your downline (at least your personal recruits) - tighter than a normal customer-seller relationship. This is the kind of relationship that requires at least some person-to-person interaction. Internet marketing to the masses cannot replace the person-to-person aspect of MLM.

The people I know who have long-term success with MLM + internet marketing use internet marketing to generate leads, then they start building the person-to-person relationship with those leads (over the phone or face-to-face).

The people I know who try to use internet marketing to replace the person-to-person aspect invariably fail. Their people drop out like flies.

Vision well said, i keep trying to tell folks you need to get withsome who can show and teach u people skills. The net, email, texting are making this a lost art. Trust me that skill set makes me thousands each week, in my different business's and people would be smart to take some time and learn it. Great Point you made. Thanks

    Hi Jay,

I just started doing a lot of heavy IM with
my MLM after my mentor really started
    teaching good fundamentals of Internet
marketing. I took some time off in the fall
for family issues, but have picked back up
    in 2009.

I firmly believe that you can build a business
and build it online....problem is, it does take
    time.

    Whether someone approaches family and
friends needs to be a personal decision for
them...not a "you have to" that so many
companies teach (although, I think if your
company has great products, you should
approach them to try it it out with you...
different topic for a different day).

PM me sometime and I can give you some
personal results of some things I have been
doing. I've been fairly impressed with my
results so far with just the couple of focus
    areas I'm using.

First, one thing that everyone should know
      about IM with network marketing:

On a very, very limited basis should you
ever optimize for you company, company's
products, etc. If you decide to move
companies, you have to start from square
      one.

Our team uses a variety of generic squeeze
      pages, some targeting network marketing
directly, some targeting work at home moms,
some targeting general people wanting to
make money online or from home.

Only one of our future websites will have
information about one of our products, yet
      none will mention the company.

Regarding AmeriPlan...well, I was with them
for a long time until their top earner decided
to leave. I know him and his wife beyond the
business, and trusted that if was leaving and
starting something new, that he was leaving
      for a very strong reason.

I read between the lines and decided to leave
      as well.

      And I'm glad I did.

Google is cracking down on multiple industries they have deemed "Illegitimate." This guy isn't the only one BTW…

Hmmm..interesting stuff. Especially since it's something I'm working on myself. If you don't mind, I'd like to throw this idea in the mix: an MLM's autoship requirements can play to the internet marketer's advantage because 1 conversion can mean months of income.

Pretty cool deal if you ask me.

        Hi there,

In my own limited experience of MLM (I was earning £3k pm $4.9kpmUS 5 years ago) I had found that the personal touch was VERY succesesfull rather than the Internet ~ less personal approach ~ was.

To qualify this I had my success 5+ years ago & had tried to expand this through Internet Marketing many times, without success.

I believe ~ through my experiences ~ that for MLM the personal touch is best ( I was involved with the "Concord" system a few years ago, not many stuck with it after sign up) but unfortunately this means a lot of "work" that many people (myself included) baulk at.

Hope this helps ...... if not ask specific questions please ....

        cheers,
