REALLY BIG MONEY NOW!!! or too much hype

Let me share something. I spent time writing a long letter with all the points I thought would be important and created a nice headline for my WSO. The headline was large and bold red.

This was on the old forum software.

The thing went all the way down the first page with zero sales.

Then...

I cut back on the copy, changed the title so it wasn't full of HYPE!!!! , and guess what? It started making sales with the same offer.

This leads me to believe either

1. I suck at writing copy
2. Warriors have seen it all and get bored with the pitch

Could be both actually.

Something to consider when putting out your WSO. I think Allen made a post about that in the past.

    Yeah Ignore all the hype anyway. When I look at as WSO or any sales page I only scan for two things - What do I get and how much will it cost me. I compare those two, decide if I actually need the product, and then if it's worth the value buy it. My question is would this work on a sales page as well?

      Yes the good ol' headline.

      I think warriors in particular are getting immuned to the hype. They just want to know how it can work for them, what it can do for them, and is the price reasonable.

      I've seen a few wso's that had an intense amount of unnecessary looong sales copy where I would stop scrolling and back out completely.

      I've also bought a few wso's with a lot of hype where I felt the offer would deliver as promised.

      Usually not.

      The ones that seem to deliver incredible value are the ones that have intigrated a nice story into the sales copy.

          I usually read the headline, scan for the price, and then scan for some reviews.
          If the product has great reviews I will usually read the whole salesletter to see what I actually get when purchasing.

          If im impressed ill usually buy.
          Headlines entice the reader, but the reader only cares about if it works or not.

                Hi Guys,

                Rather than sticking blindly to some mythical code I prefer writing honestly from the heart, just try actually saying some of the sales copy out loud - it sounds quite unreal and certainly would not be the way you would convince someone to do something.

                Good old "AIDA" (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) still works with a liberal dose of belief in your product.

                Try writing a letter as if you were convincing some one near & dear to you (Mother, sister, brother, father) & see the difference in style, if you can't write convincingly it then perhaps the person shouldn't be selling the product in the first place!

                  I think it's unwise to say that hype will always lead to lower sales
                  or more sales.

                  I also think it's bad to say that shorter copy will lead or more or less
                  sales.

                  The only thing certain is that we MUST TEST.

                  For some products hype is or is not needed and short copy is or is
                  not needed.

                  I would say the same thing about fancy graphics for a sales page.

            For me, if it's too much hype then I'd be really wary. I'd also Google to see for some reviews.

    I write copy much less hypey for fellow Warriors than otherwise - because let's face it with people who know marketing there is little point. They just want to know exactly how your product can help them - not all the other razamataz copy.
