xxx domain still pending application

Hey folks,

I've pre-ordered a xxx domain early in november, even though it's open for public already, how come my domain is still pending application?

I'm not getting any notifications from godaddy as well...

what's going on? anyone? any suggestions?

Wouldn't it be best to contact GoDaddy about this?

I know that .xxx extensions are still in the pre-registration phase. At the same time I'd argue that at this point in time you'll see far more benefit from registering a dot com and actually using it, rather than spending the $100 to "pre-register" for a dot xxx one.

.xxx domain names are now live to the internet... gay.xxx sold for 500 000$ and already has a splash up

Sorry to read about your issue Ed!

However, the first thing is to contact Godaddy's customer support team. Next please beaware of the following regarding pre-registration of .xxx domain extensions:

"When you pre-register for General Availability, we submit your application as soon as that phase begins, which gives you the best possible chance of securing your domain name. General Availability begins Dec. 6, 2011, at 16:00 UTC."

This nugget of information means that your application for your particular domain was submitted on December 6. Godaddy further advises the following:

      Pre-registered .XXX Domain Names
      • Pre-registered General Availability applications will be submitted, and if successful, will result in registered or blocked .xxx domain names. If the domain name is not captured, a refund will be submitted. Active .xxx domains and refunds might take 24-48 hours.
      • Unsuccessful Sunrise B applicants will not receive a refund.
      • Notices for Sunrise AT, Sunrise AD, and Landrush domain names resulting in auction will be submitted and sent out soon.
For important details about each pre-registration phase and the .xxx extension in general, see these Help articles:
      About .xxx Domain Names
      Registering .xxx Domain Names
You can also get more information by visiting the ICM Registry site.

I hope some of this information helps you! However, again, the best course of action is to probably submit a support ticket so you can have somebody look into your specific case!

For people with the same problem - this is godaddy's response:

Thank you for contacting Online Support.

I understand you are experiencing an issue with the registration of the domain to the account as it is pending at this time. If you wish for an update on the domain you will need to contact tldlaunch@secureserver.net for a status update to the domain. At this time the domain is still pending registration to the account as it is waiting approval from the registry.

Ed, it would appear that the message that you have receive is a "canned" reply. That's both good and bad. It's bad in the sense that you don't know what's going on...but it's also good in the sense that the message means you're not the only one with this issue; so it's not unique to you.

Based on the other information I supplied to you, I would think that barring you being able to actually contact a "live" person at godaddy, you wait it out. The information leads me to believe that just because you pre-registered doesn't mean you are actually guaranteed to own the domain name.

Lastly, again, it looks like a lot of this process actually started on December 6. Unless this is life and death for you, I would wait it out.

Either the domain will be registered to you eventually (if nobody else pre-registered the name ahead of you) or you're going to be issued a refund by them because you didn't get the name.

You got your point there - I guess I'll have to wait it out then. If it's mine, it'll be mine. It's just annoying how there's no announcements at all, yet, some of the xxx domains are already going live...

            Thanks for your suggestions.

You're spot on Ed with that comment. If they're going to offer the service, they really should keep their customers apprised of what's going on and when it's going on. Unfortunately, godaddy is not know for their wonderful customer support lol

As a backup, you can keep checking with ICANN or whois to keep an eye out for who your domain is registered to. Currently, it should read that it belongs to ICANN. Either you'll see the whois change or you'll get some kind of confirmation from godaddy eventually. It does suck for sure being in limbo on this...especially if you have plans for the domain and can't do a thing about it until you actually know what's going on.

And what do you mean by "it's not working"? Keep in mind as well that it takes time for the DNS to propagate the net, too. So the sooner you received the confirmation, the more likely it is that you need to wait 24-48 hours. If you received that confirmation 24-48 hours ago, then you might have an issue.

But depending on what you mean by "it's not working", what you specifically mean could be a clue as to what's going on?

Maybe you right, but when i'm trying to check domain whois i'm receiving:

The record we received from the Whois server may be incomplete.

Well with that then, you may have a problem. "The record we received from the Whois server may be incomplete" means that your domain name is still reserved by ICM Registry.

So since you say you received an actual confirmation, that could simply mean godaddy got a confirmation from them and then sent you one, but the information on your domain still hasn't been updated yet to indicate your ownership. Again, a waiting game.

I contacted on tldlaunch@secureserver.net again, but I think there will be no answer until tommorow, cause not only me have this problem from godaddy.

My friend bought domains in 123-reg ( uk company ) and he's already got domains live!

Did you pre-register your domain name before 6/12? or you registered in these2 days?

If you actually pre-registered, and have got application approved already - then mine is probably going up for an auction .....

      That sucks.

        I did pre-register.

edit: but the thing is - whois showing that domain is still reserved. Maybe godaddy made mistake and sent me bad email so mine domain probably will go to auction too.

I doubt that they sent the wrong email.
It's probably that your domain name is still linking to the name servers? maybe.

Anyway, it's good to hear that your application is successful.

          Hope mine goes well too!

Was the auction notice accompanied by porno music in the background?

Sorry Ed about the auction notice...it would appear that you were really looking forward to capturing your chosen domain name!
