In lack of inspiration...

I was wondering if anyone had some tips to get some inspiration and ideas for some new websites, I'd like to start my first serious website but I'm not too sure what it will be about ..

I know the usual , write about something you're passionate about, we could say Im passionate about computers but you bet this area is hella competitive.. same for video games.

I also know the ebay pulse, amazon, trends, I always find myself lost there with no real keywords or inspiring ideas that come up..

I think my main concern here is going after good keywords, I don't want to go after too low searches or too high competion, in other words it's hard to find the middle (decent amount of searches and not so hard competition).

Also Im open to do anything that works , amazon, adsense CPA (im registered and accepted in all 3).

I don't have the budget for an autoresponder but will look forward to have that once I get going..

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

        Well I'm not buying that argument about being passionate. The only thing I'm passionate about is sitting on the beach. However I do like Internet marketing and I spend a lot of time working in it.

        Further, all you have to do is like something well enough to lose track of time. For example, if you see a website that you like and you find yourself spending an overnight on the computer trying to create something similar, then you are in the right business.

        Try not to make things too complicated. All you have to do is like something or love it they both will work.

          Right on. I enjoy writing about something but I could be better off out in a bar chillin'.

          You're right about being passionate about it too. As long as you can write about it and don't feel like the subject is way to boring or to technical for you then it's a good niche.

            Also consider the other half of what the above folks are saying... you can be interested in it and write about it, but you also should be able to easily find others interested in it too.

            You might want to consider looking for markets or topics where you know for a fact people are already going, searching by keyword, discussing on forums, joining groups on Facebook, etc.

            In other words, it's great to pick a niche, but unless you know where to get the traffic you'll just be wasting time. Thinking of it that way makes the rest rather easy. You can always change the specific products, and test offers to an existing traffic source, but it's a lot harder to start over if you realize after setting everything up you can't find targeted traffic at all.

              Yea that's what I'm worried about setting up a website then realise I can't get traffic on it.

              It's while trying to find a topic that I can monetize (and is'nt too crowded) that my confidence break.

              And yea If I would find THE idea it would certainly bring me some motivation, I think I need to keep looking and thinking in a way "how could my website be useful to somebody" .

    Sounds like you need to write down some sort of action plan and stick to it. It doesn't matter about your competition as much as how much work you put into it yourself. You will eventually find a way to gain interest from the crowd that will want to support you because you can offer value. Don't follow the crowd.

    By the tone of your post it seems you don't really want to be inspired. You say you like computers and video games. But then you say those markets are too crowded. Sure they are. Both are mega markets.

    The secret is to hone in on a profitable niche or even micro niche of a popular market. And since both computers and video games are loaded with little nooks and crannies, you're in luck. I have no idea what might interest you. No one here does.
