Shall I use .info domains to setup Amazon sites?

Hi,

I can buy some nice keyword domains for Amazon related products.
The most have around 4000 exact searches per month.
But...the extensions are .info
Is it a good idea to buy those domains,I can buy those domains for $4 each
Or is it not a good idea to setup Amazon sites on .info domains.
I want to use Wordpress and a plugin to setup these sites and also want to hire someone to write some unique articles.

Looking forward to get some advice.

Thanks

Richard

You are going to get mixed reviews on this. I will say I have ranked .info's before, but it does seem that they do not get the same EMD boost that a .com, .net, or .org get.

There is nothing wrong with using a .info domain extension, they can rank just as well as the other domain extension. Just from personal preference I always try to get .com, .net, and .org first, but if they aren't available I'll get a .info.

      Thank you for your replies.
I would like to get those domains in .com .net or .org,but they are all gone.
The domains I can buy are really nice product related domains, one word and two word domains.

.info domains were too much used by spammers and now Google doesn't like them much. IMHO

That's what I also heard, this is one of the reasons I am a bit afraid to buy them and start using these domains.

I have ranked .info sites quite easily. I would jump in and test it out.

As Google, and Matt Cutts, keep clarifying so repeatedly, in writing, on blogs and on videos, for SEO purposes it makes absolutely no difference at all - all TLD's are exactly the same. (Some people still imagine otherwise: they're wrong).

In "public perception", among customers, ".info" can be very good.

It looks like an "informational" sort of site. That attracts credibility and respect. ".com" can come across to some people as "just someone trying to sell something", and that can produce suspicion and skepticism.

As so often, the customer "instinctive perspective" can be pretty much diametrically opposed to the marketer "instinctive perspective". That's why it's so good to ask our customers about these things, rather than guessing, making assumptions and trusting our own prejudices as marketers.

Above all, don't make the mistake of imagining that ".info", because it's a bit lower-priced to register, is somehow inferior: that isn't so at all.

There's a lot more information in this thread, and this one, here, here and so on ...

I personally have not used .info domains but the only way to know for sure is to test it and see what happens. Then you will know for sure whether or not Google hates them. I have heard for a long time that they do not rank as well, but if you have not bought a few and tried to rank them how do you know for sure.

Or see what Google say about it.

Or see what Matt Cutts says about it.

Or see what the author of any standard, respected, commercially published textbook on SEO says about it.

Or see what the Warrior Forum's most respected SEO people say about it.

Or see what the people here who used to work for Google and/or MicroSoft/Bing on their search engine algorithms have to say about why domain-name extensions couldn't and wouldn't ever possibly affect SEO in any way.

Or read some of the 100+ previous threads discussing this exact issue, some of them with links to Google videos, blog entries, and so on, all saying that TLD extensions don't affect SEO at all, in any way, and never have done.

But, of course, failing all that (for some absolutely unaccountable reason?!), you're absolutely right: just have to test it for yourself.

I think I have responded to this type of questions a lot on this forum. And I am telling you guys again...that different domain names DON'T affect your ranking.

Let me give you an example. John and Max go to an interview for a job. John is very talented, smart enough and he deserves to get the job. Max isn't so good, and so prepared to have the job...but the company chooses Max over John because they like his name more!!

This is the exact same thing here...you can have whatever domain name you want...if you don't have an optimized site with good articles that keeps the visitor on the page you won't rank high on google. Is very simple.

    Good luck,

Where do you buy them from? I've bought one from GoDaddy and it was $2,2 or something, sometimes even cheaper.
