When did you have your first 200$ month?

I made my first $200 in Jan 2008

I was using the popular Niche Marketing on Crack method...and made that with my very first site without knowing what I was doing

Only problem was, instead of scaling, I went method hopping

Dumb mistake that cost me thousands of dollars

Moral of the story?

If something is making you money, rinse and repeat and quit reading all of those sales letters that promise instant riches

It doesn't take much to make $200 a month. In fact, I was still using Hubpages and Squidoo to do review pages back then. I didn't have a sel-hosted blog or anything of the sort. Once I began making $300 on a consistent basis without having to do much of anything (was really lazy and a newbie at the time) and the free sites started cracking down on what you could promote and what not, I started a blog on my own domain. All I'm trying to say is that's it's very doable.

My first $200 month came the same month I did a couple of $200 days. It was my first year in high school (around 2-3 years ago), so things were going nice. That was short lived though. I saw one complete year of no online income after that (involved myself into studies).

I made my first dollars drop shipping and that went really well I guess I got lucky I made 100 dlls a week of just checking my email once a day and the forwarding the orders but that dried up in about 2 months since then I have tried many things and still haven't made any real progress of course I focused on my school but now that I graduated college I realize I could have made more money online as I am still looking for a job.

I made my first $200 selling facebook fans. It's fun though. thinking about it.

I made my first dollars in 2005 selling an ebook on ebay.....never looked back since.

Only secret you need to know is persistence and dedication, if you have this then the rewards will follow.

However, I do remember one specific "review site" that I started mid-September 2009, monetised initially with AdSense and then later Amazon Associates as well. Worked on it on and off, on a very part-time basis, over a week or so; probably less than about 9 hours invested in total, so let's just say about one day's work.

Then I lost interest and moved on, only building a very occasional relevant backlink here and there whenever I came across a chance opportunity. Barely did anything at all. By the end of September I'd only earned about £3-4, and the next month, when I began ranking low down on Page 1 on Google UK and US for my main keywords, that jumped up to around £50; the month after, now bouncing around positions #2-5, that jumped up to about £130-£190/month. That was essentially just with time and some very occasional backlinking to the 5 or so pages of which the site comprised, mostly the homepage. Eventually I expanded that site out a little bit and it's remained a nice little monthly earner ever since, with some good spikes in the summer months and around Christmas. I haven't touched it for over a year.

In all, all the work it entailed to get it up to ~$200/month could've been completed in a long working day, quite easily.

This kind of thing, however, is obviously a bit hit-and-miss. And in any case, I absolutely don't recommend relying exclusively on search engines for traffic.

Started in 2008 but it was over $200 per month. Recently I made somebody $5,000 in just about two weeks. It involved doing a micro-launch of 2 new products in a hot niche.

But the real question shoud be:
how much time does it take to make first 100 or 200 USD in IM business?

In July, 2004, with my online store. Unfortunately, it cost me about $500 in PPC to achieve that. As I learned how to get free traffic and optimize my PPC campaigns, that turned around, to the point where within 3 months, I was selling $5,000, and it was only costing me about $3,500. I started to cut back on PPC as I got more free traffic after that.

This was before I learned the virtues of VAs, which I should have employed to handle customer service issues, which will always arise when you're selling hard goods online. Another side of the affiliate/vendor debate.

I was selling sporting goods, which have lower technical requirements and return issues than most niches, which was one of my primary reasons for choosing it. I'd been an outside sales rep for a large consumer electronics distributor, and saw how returns could really eat into profits fast. Wanted no part of that.

Even so, customer questions and service issues and my wanting to address them promptly soon made it to where it was interfering with my regular job, and I made the decision to wind down the online store. Even at that growth rate, it would have been some time before the store would overtake my regular income, and I could just not afford to give it up.

If I had it to do over again, I'd just outsource the all the customer service functions I could. Live and learn. My best day of profit with the store was $800, selling commercial grade power inverters to the Boeing Company. I used a fullfillment center, so I never touched the product, just processed the payment and sent the order to the center after the payment cleared.

LESSON HERE: I should have focused on the inverter business and targeted commercial and government clients exclusively. They're repeat buyers, and have substantial budgets. While price sensitive, in many cases, they want reliable service, selection, and prompt delivery over price.

In addition, there would be no worries about CC fraud, something I got stung by selling to consumers, despite having protections in place.

That was about 6 years ago, but it could still be a great business...anyone, anyone????

I sold some stuff on ebay for $1000. Do not remeber the details, but most of it was my old stuff. I did a few storage auctions, but never had the drive to sell "stuff" online. I have always preferred the information and services. Easier and more rewarding.

I love all this - I made my first $200 on fiverr.com this year, offering a few different backlinking services, etc. While that is okay, my fiverr income is not passive income, it is more like a job. I want to increase in my passive income, (on my websites, sales & adsense), and eventually, decrease my active income, to gain more time & freedom.

I am still within my first year of Internet Marketing, and have just started seeing a consistent amount of clicks in Google Adsense, had my first $20.00 month with Adsense in November. AND, I had my first Clickbank sale ($20) in November as well. Just today, I saw that I had made another, $26.00 Clickbank sale 2 days ago Passive income is starting to build...makes me excited!

So far, I had no success with any Amazon sales...I calculated what I would have made in Adsense instead, had all the clicks been Google Ads...kinda makes me wonder if Amazon is worth it sometimes! Oh well, I am still finding out what works and what doesn't...Good luck to the O.P. - keep at it! If there is anything you need extra help on - outsourcing to fiverr works well for me... I do it for most of my backlinking.

The money comes with effort. If your efforts are true and positive and you put in legitimate work. The money can come faster than you think. Hell, you could do it in a day.

It's not that hard, especially if you have your own products and are making 100% of the profits...when I started to make $200/month I was selling a $97 product and made $500 that first month.

Over a year ago. Took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. This binds us together like some weird IM fraternity.

My first $200 came back in August 2011 ( yes I'm fairly new lol) but this was my first time trying to earn money from the internet. I participated in a make money online product launch from CB and 2 days after launch day I checked my cb account and there sat a little over $200...
I kind of knew what I was doing but not really lol...but I ran around my apartment as if I won the lottery lol I was excited!

January of 2011, so about 2 months after first starting.

a few years back I hired someone to teach me cpa and made 6k in my first month...was a lucky start because it took me another year to get back to that level.
