Hello!

I tried to make a search on google for my domain, ex: domain.com and I noticed that google shows my website link at the top then underneath it I see around 4 pages listed with their description so I tried another site I have and I noticed it only lists the site link without any pages.. just the mainpage with description as any other site you see when you do a search.. does this mean the first site has more authority?

Edit: btw I heard Google doesn't take the site description meta tag into account for rankings, is that true?

Thanks

Yes, I notice that on some website too. but I seriously doubt so that first site has more authority. One of my site is rank first on google search but there are no extra 4 pages link to it. Anyone know the reason for this? Please share

All my domains show as regular listing but this one doesn't.. this one had an authority as it was owned by a teaching institution and it got dropped.. I like the fact that it shows like that .. very nice! whenever I add pages, I see them coming up on google in a neat way.. I am guessing it is authority or more trust, because not all sites have it and if u search like known sites using the domain in the search engine, it will do the same.. thanks..hope someone can tell us the exact answer

Yep, as far as I know, they're not interested in the description tag.

    However...

The do often display whatever's written in that tag under the site title/link on their search results. For this reason, it's important to write a good description that will entice user's to click through to your site.
