Google - GWC and GA all sites under same account?

Hi

I have been using the Google Webmaster Central and Piwik Web Analytics for stats on my sites.

I have considered to replace Piwik Web Analytics with using Google Analytics instead on my sites. Should I have the Google Analytics tied togther with the GWC or just keep them separated?

Should I have my sites added under the same account or keep them separated for each sites?

What is the Pros and Cons..

Thanks
Christoffer

I gather that quite a number of people go to great lengths to keep separate their Analytics accounts so that "Google can't see their entire portfolio" (even though that's irrelevant if you happen to be using AdSense or have them all added to a single Webmaster Central account).

It's not concrete that there were, are, or will be issues by allowing your sites to be associated with one another, or with the same owner, but the anticipation of such is based on the belief that "if Google doesn't like your sites or practices for any reason, they might deindex or penalise your entire portfolio".

Can't see it happening myself, unless you're deliberately churning out low-quality sites with a view to "spamming" the hell out of the SERPs, but if that's the case, you're sitting on a ticking time-bomb anyway.

I've had large chunks of my own portfolio added under the same AdSense account, same Analytics account and same Webmaster Central account - all of which under the same Google account - for years. Never had a problem to date.

Then again, I'm engaged in a constant pursuit to lessen my reliance on search-engine traffic anyway, so the longer I'm "good" the less I actually care either way.

As direstraits says if you aren't doing anything dodgy you have nothing to hide

    Hi DireStraits

Thank you so much for your advice on this.

I will setup seperated Google Webmaster Central and Google Analytics for each of my sites, not because of black hat methods (that I am not into that), but to keep things simple.. Also if I sell some of my sites later on, I can give them the GWC and GA with the sites.

    Cheers,

I have Google Analytics on very few (less than 5%) of my sites.

I figure they already collect too much information about me and my websites, and I will be damned if I am going to give them all the data they need to be able to profit from my "business intelligence".

The disadvantage with using Google Analytics exclusively is they restrict some of your information to the top 100 or 1000 results.

I find some of my best tracking data in the lower impact web pages, because I find out what is working and what is not working so well, and I adjust information on those pages to target new keywords and new titles, etc.

    Hi tpw

Wow less than 5% Google Analytics on your sites. What other services do you use for tracking your sites instead of Google Analytics?

My thoughts on this it could be good to add my sites with GA getting most data out of it. I am not sure it could give any influence or impact on the rankings to have GA and GWC add to my sites.
