    Hi Peter

Best advice I can give you is to make sure that you dont start going from one project to another.

Take one project on. Start making money, scale it and only then move to another project.

Really nail something down first. Then move onto another things.

Remember, things don't happen by themselves. You must make sure that you make things happen.

Also dont be afraid to spend money. Sure you can get things rolling without money, but its really much faster and easier if you invest some.

Stay away from new shiny "niches" and stick to some old facioned models that you know to be working.

Also make sure you find someone who pushes and motivates and helps you along the way. A mentor of such. When you do find it someone like that make sure that, its not one way of giving. You must be benefiting that mentor also

    Hope this helps.

Simply said - focus and don't let anything distract you.

First, however, decide what you want to do and stick to that.

Secondly, remember that working from home is working and requires discipline.
Also, Internet Marketing is just like any other business, requires investment in terms of time, money and effort.

So, you have to set your working hours and keep them in all circumstances. Don't be lured to anything promising you millions in return for 20 minutes a day or 2 hours a week or so.

I wish you all the success!

Read all you can on this forum.

If there is anything specific that you want to know, use the search feature to see if you can find the answer. If you can't, then ask and someone will usually be able to help.

    I wish you every success.

Don't buy any big training programs or software that promises the moon, there is no one way or one solution that makes money for everyone regardless of the headlines.

Know this is a business and like a business takes a plan and a lot of work.

    Read a ton.

Stick to one method and one niche for a few months to really see results.

Join the War Room here, the one time life time fee is well worth it for all the free stuff you get.

There is a lot of very valuable free stuff in the Make Money Online forum on here too which you do not have to sign up for any list to get. Some is crap, some is very valuable. I try to direct my subsribers to the valuable stuff but the best thing to do is look at it all yourself.

Regardless of anything else you do, build a list.

    Good luck.

If you give up after a few months, like most people do, you will never have the chance to perfect your field.

Stick at it. That's my tip.

Invest into the WF war room

Get a small niche site which will get you started and will bring in visitor more easily then doing a big site in a general niche right away when you don't have a lot of knowledge about SEO and overall IM.

Read through the free guides on the web. All is there and don't get fooled by the over promising WSO's.

I've been doing Internet Marketing for sometime now and I noticed that
there are 3 general skills you need to get a good grip on when making
    money online. Here they are:

    Learn how to get traffic
    Learn how to create products
Learn how to entice readers to sign-up and buy

When you master these 3 you can make 2k to 3k over a weekend

Research, figure out where you are most skilled and use that to your advantage, test (test!!!). Recognize that making money online is hard work. I've been in the industry for almost seven years and can't say that I've ever met anyone who just stumbled in and accidentally made a ton of money (and KEPT making money).

    Hi Peter and welcome

Just grab one thing that works and focus on it. Learn more about it and do it real good. Any cake that's half-baked is no good in IM.

If you are wondering what's working, sit back and think what's it that needs a fix. Develop the solution for it and you are going o sell hot.

If you see a relevant merchant that you may use down the road, go ahead and apply. Benefits in addition to having them handy when and if you need them, you will likely be notified in advance of sales, and you may have access to affiliate-only coupon codes and sales.

Also banners are easy to slap onto a website, but they are not the best converters. You also can’t rank in the search engines for a banner. Intext links are where it is at. Write reviews. Give recommendations. Don’t rely on blinking sidebar banners to do the trick. They likely won’t.

    3. Test everything -do not take someones advice that somthing does or doesnt work because so and so said it didnt work for them.

3.Outsource, leverage, outsource, leverage, outsource leverage.- this doesn't mean 100% hands off neccessarily, it just means maximize your time, example: a musician who makes money from royalties. They work, but, they work maximizing their time when doing labor.

Choose a product that you know best, personally..If you love the outdoors and doing such activities as hiking, climbing, and camping then perhaps it might be higher for you to become an affiliate for an outside product, service or company. You’ll be able to promote a camping gear, a travel destination, or something connected to the nice outdoors. This manner you may continually be galvanized to market the merchandise and push it to possess larger sales and exposure. Essentially, promote those that are of your interest and those that you can and had the will to know the product on a personal level.

Choose products that you, yourself would honestly and earnestly believe to be good. Unless you’re a great copywriter capable of crafting the sweetest, most convincing words, it would be nearly impossible (not in these days) for you to convince other people to shop for a product if you yourself is not familiar with and even not convinced of its value. Although it is not necessary for you to try out the product yourself before becoming an affiliate for it, it would a very very great advantage to know the product beforehand… inside and out if possible, and when you got to know your product personally, you will know what to say and put out those honest words to convince others about its value.

FIRST- IM is a business. So, it's NOT FREE. You must have some money to start. Get ready to spend some money. Money will go for Domain, hosting, Autoresponder (don't ignore) and Training. Later you may need some essential softwares.

Sell what people buy, not what you think they buy. Sell what they want, but give what they really need inside the product.

Learn to say NO. It means, don't say yes to all offers you get.

Everything can be outsourced except RESEARCH. But you have to do research and study yourself.

BUILD YOUR LIST......BUILD YOUR LIST....BUILD YOUR LIST.....BUILD YOUR LIST.....BUILD YOUR LIST.......Money is on the list. If you can nurture the relationship with your list, your list will become your CREDIT CARD one day.

    Welcome Peter

Do not use your primary e-mail address for signing up to newsletters etc. Set up a new one solely for that purpose & do not check it every hour or so. You will get bombarded with information overload in no time at all.

Soak up as much information as you can & make a start. Map out a plan & take action on it.

Do not get taken in by promises of quick riches or push button gimmicks.

Good luck in your IM adventure.

Well ! First best of luck....

Always try to get the bigger picture..... keep things separate... You should be able to judge between SEM (SEO, Baclinking etc), SMM (Blogging, Social Media Sites, micro-blogging etc, Partnerships, Channel Marketing (Affiliates etc) and EMM (News letters, mass email campaigns etc). Don't buy offers but try to figure out things by yourself and try to learn. Get your hands dirty......

Hi Peter, here's some advice from my own early negative experience... I'm a complete newbie, I bought a new website on Flippa based on the seller's revenue claims and how with a couple of hours work each day I could make thousands per year. He had screen shots of revenues from the previous 9 days. I asked him some basic due diligence questions, like was he related to any purchasers of his service, was he related to any of his suppliers, etc. It all looked good, but in hindsight, I could have bought a cheaper website and wasted less time.

    1. I agree with above posts - this is a business and if you want to go with minimal investment, avoid buying services and be prepared to invest time and be patient. Just make sure you have something original to offer. On the other hand, if you have money, there's nothing wrong with buying established websites with months and months of documented revenues (as opposed to just a few days), as long as you are good at due diligence, use escrow.com to manage the transaction and are not sinking your life savings. I realize now why they call it "Flippa". My hasty decision-making makes me want to flippa-outta every day.

    2. But it's important not to kick yourself forever for poor decisions, I made a mistake, it wasn't bank-breaking, and I'm moving on. Making the purchase and going in full steam has forced me to learn a lot of things, and fast, and I'm ok with that approach. I've learned that I wouldn't buy a Wordpress website again until I can figure that program out, even though it seems to be a popular platform. After deciding Wordpress is not for me right now, I was able to build a completely new website with weebly in an afternoon. I love that platform, easy-peasy, but my hosting provider only allows me to use weebly for one website on my account. So if you're going to make multiple websites, consider opening a weebly pro account. That being said, selling a weebly website (and all the files required) when you're hooked into a weebly account may not be as easy as selling a Wordpress site (weebly doesn't seem to allow you to ftp files to or from their pro accounts, and I've asked their support folks twice about this). That's my impression so far anyways. For me, being able to tinker with my second website was very important, because I am tweaking things all the time. So bottom line, make sure you can manage the tweaking of your website or can get someone who will.

    3. So now I'm into doing some experiments to build visibility, build traffic, and make money. There's lots of on-page SEO work you can do yourself just by designing your website files well. And for off-page SEO, you'll find 1000's of offers to get more visibility for your website by link-building activity, opt-in email traffic, other targetted traffic, submitting articles to directories, submitting press releases, marketing yourself (in moderation) in forums and blogs, etc. From what I gather, if you're able to invest a couple of hours, keep adding rich content to your site and participating in forums you'll get there.

    4. Now, I'm running a couple of experiments using CPA networks while waiting for my Google AdSense approval. I'm going to buy targeted traffic for my CPA websites and see what my ROI is on that. In time, if I can build enough organic traffic for other websites, I'll use AdSense once I get approved. But one has to be careful with AdSense or any other pay-per-click program if you're buying traffic to come to your website... it's easy to get clickbombed and then banned from Google (from what I have found).

So, just a few thoughts on my experience so far! Good luck!

In contrast to most advice here, I recommend trying a bunch of different systems. The problem is that most systems here are incomplete in one way or another. That applies especially to systems you buy (which are not really systems at all, merely a bunch of stuff that the author has read here and stuck together, without actually trying it at all in practice). I advise treating each system as a learning experience, rather than expecting each system to actually work as written (and being hugely dissapointed almost every time), that way you'll gradually accumulate enough knowledge and experience to succeed.

Nothing wrong with sticking with one system if it's working, or almost working. By all means do your best if a system is not working yet, ask questions, get advice, try your own ideas. But if it is still failing, move on. Some time later, you'll have probably learned enough from other systems, to come back and make that one work, or at least to see why it won't

I started IM under a year ago and i make nice cash now. You have to be willing to do the work necessary and learn how to do everything PROPERLY! it sounds simple but there are no easy ways around somethings and you need to be able to determine when to keep pushing forward or walk away from a project. sometimes it can be very tough to do because everything seems right and yet its all so wrong.

As with any business Peter, there is start up capital involved, don't lose sight of that initial fact.

From there, I recommend you find a niche you know something about, be it a hobby, passion or something you enjoy, and focus on developing and selling products which can help people with their problems.

Also concentrate on building your own list, and building a relationship with them, that way in time they will trust you, and buy products you either have created yourself, or recommend to them.

All the Gurus tell me to focus on one project, build a list and create a product. I'm learning that to make good money online you have to do those things. However, I'm looking for a reputable warrior to build me two sales pages on a particular niche ( one 5 pages and the other 15 pages). How much would it cost to outsource and any recommedations?

      Hi Peter,

As you're seeing, you're going to get a lot of advice from a lot of very different perspectives here.

In IM, it's very easy to get overwhelmed and distracted by Bright Shiny Objects. So here is my VERY BEST advice to newbies and veterans alike who are still reaching for success in IM:

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

I see someone has already recommended affiliate marketing. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

Build a list of ideal prospective clients/customers for your product/service, build a relationship with them (through regular, consistent contact) and then make an offer.

I can't overemphasize this enough: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I STRONGLY recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (Now it's only $997. :p) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

      Hope this helps!

        Michelle
        Hi,

I am a newbie too and I totally agree with you that I should invest in one good, comprehensive IM course or mentoring/coaching program.

Do you have any recommendations? I am considering Charles Kirkland"s coaching program at the moment. I really appreciate you opinion from your past experience.
I want to find out more about the "good" coaching programs out there to give myself more options.

        Thanks,

In IM, it's very easy to get overwhelmed and distracted by Bright Shiny Objects. So here is my VERY BEST advice to newbies and veterans alike who are still reaching for success in IM:

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

        1. Products
        2. Services

        That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

        Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

Spend few weeks reading up, but don't be overwhelmed by it. You will get used to the different terminologies, tactics and marketing methods soon enough.

          Good luck!

Don't get too caught up in learning. You don't have to know how to do everything yourself (though it helps to at least have an understanding). The biggest piece of advice is to take action. Even if it is the wrong action, you can probably learn from it. Try to keep moving forward.

Research is very important, learn how to do keyword research to find traffic. Learn how to research niches to pick profitable niches. Learn what resources are the best value for money spent before you invest in anything. Free resources are not always the best choice, but there are some that are good. (listwire is a good free autoresponder, but getresponse and aweber are considered the industry standards.) Check the WF for reviews of anything you are considering purchasing, you can save yourself a lot of headaches.

Do what you love and love what you do.

Build a list of BUYERS, not just a list. Offer your list things that are relevant to the list they signed up for. (If your list is dog owners, a camping product offer might not necessarily make sense. A dog training product would be a better option for that list.) More importantly, build relationships. If you promise something, deliver or over-deliver on that promise. Provide value and solutions. Help people and the money will follow.

The golden rule: Treat everyone like you'd like to be treated.

Best of luck in your efforts, keep at them.

    Jim Waller

P.S. PLEASE don't create an internet marketing success product unless you are successful at it. There is already too much bad information out there.

Learn what you can about the 'first' thing that interest you and ignore everything else until you have a good handle on that, otherwise you tend to never get anything done!

The best advice I could give you is use this forum to your full advantage. There is massive amounts of information in this forum. If you can afford a war room membership, it is worth it. Also, make sure you know what you want to do before just starting on the first thing that catches your eye. If you want to go down the affiliate path, use this forum to research everything that will be necessary to be successful. Same applies to whatever method you believe you may be interested in. Plan your work...work your plan (an old boss used to say that to me often).

Hi, i read about half of the posts above and didn't see one that mentioned these two points:

    1. Network like a ninja, build meaningful relationships with your peers and be prepared to give to recieve. Get in the Skype groups and forums and hook up, it is an immensely valuable resource and it's fun too.

    2. If you want to establish yourself as an expert, get out from behind that forum name and use your own name. People remember people more than they remember corporate names when it comes to relationship marketing. By that I mean, they don't refer to you as optimal seo or whatever, they will refer to you as Peter etc. so decide now which you want and take that move or you will lose momentum when you do decide to change over

One tip I would suggest is that instead of buying WSO after WSO, you save your money and buy a War Room membership. If you check out my free report in my signature, you will see over thousands of dollars worth of products are free in there.
