Is this a good beginner plan??

Hi Warriors,

So this is my first post. I have been reading and snooping around the forum a while now. I'm looking to begin IM starting as soon as possible. I have read many many ways posted here from very helpful members, much of the information posted on here is golden and I am glad to be joining this wonderful community.

As a new IM'er who wishes to sell affiliate products from clickbank, what route do you think I should take in doing so. I have intermediate web programming skills, however I have noticed much of the sales, or opt-in sites are very simple. I am also curious about article marketing. Is it still relevant? Everything appears to change so fast in this game.

My question is, is my plan I outline below a sensible one?

I plan to:
Choose a niche clickbank product.
Create a webpage with about 20 unique pages, relevant to the topic (or is a blog a better option)
Write approximately 80 unique articles and post them to various article sites etc (squid)
Use these articles to create backlinks into my webpage. (the opt-in page/main page)
Create an autoresponder as I begin to generate my list and offer them free quality content periodically along with promoting my affiliate product

Does this seem reasonable? Am I missing anything key?

Or is this plan completely outlandish or outdated?

I'm doing my best to research SEO as we speak.

Cheers Rob

    Yes, very good approach.

It is my preference to create a simple squeeze page first because I have found they convert better when the only thing the person has to do is sign up. I've also found that text only is the highest converting for me in several different niches.

    However, test for yourself.

As for the site with all the content, I would make it another page to the domain name of the squeeze page site.

As for the question, "does article marketing still work" it has always and still works great for me.

As a matter of fact, when a lot of people lost ranking after google panda, all my sites rose, I can only attribute it to lots of high quality article backlinks from my syndicated articles.

I post only a few high quality original articles on only 2 sites and then they get syndicated. I don't go posting them every where.

You have a good plan so now, take action and stick with it. It can take a few months for things to get going so don't get discouraged. Remember, this is a business after all and takes time and work.

    Good luck.

One big key: The niche and / or keywords you intend to SEO for your site, how competitive is it? My first try at IM, I made up a big content website, which... there were thousands of on the same topic. So, didn't rank very well or do very well (plus the affiliate company I used turned out not to pay affiliate, but that's another story).

Another thing: IM is a JOB. You work from home, but if you don't treat it seriously, you won't do as well.

You've got the abbreviated version down pretty good. Be sure to focus a lot on the quality of your list. You hear it all the time but the relationship with the list is even more important than the size of it. Take care of them and they will reciprocate.

sounds like a good plan but I would join jvnotify first and see which new products are coming to clickbank and choose one of those to start your campaign with, then stick to your plan, you will need at least 100 links to start to drive traffic to your page.

    Stop right there....

If you are going to write 80 articles "to post to various article sites" you are far better off posting them on YOUR site first. Let them get indexed, and then re-use them elsewhere.

No point in creating content for other people for the sake of it.

In essence it is a solid plan. Those 80 articles? Put them on your own site first. Give it a better ranking. Now go do it!

I like you plan, Well put together as a rough outline. This is importnat in my opinion because when you start to get sidetracked, or something does is not working as you wanted it to go back to that out line.

Having a plan and sticking to it puts you further ahead then many I would think. Be ready to adapt and methodicaly adjust things to work better as you go but don't loose focuse on the plan.

Looks as though you have plenty of content. The majority of which should be used on your site. If you have enough keywords per article you would be creating an authority site with original content. This is what Google in particular are looking for. You could earn page rank quite quickly.

It also gives you plenty of options to monetize.

      Good luck

You've got a very solid plan. Some things I would suggest along the way:

Pick wisely. You need a product that you're legitimately interested in and that you really do believe in. Remember, you're going to spend 40 hours a week (if not more!) writing about this product/niche, promoting this product, and learning more about this niche. If you don't have some passion for the niche, you're going to get bored quickly - meaning that your business will suffer. And, if you don't legitimately believe in your product, your visitors will see right through you.

A blog is only better if you're committed to updating it on a regular basis. Can you stick to a schedule? If you're worried that you can't update it once a week (or twice a week, or whatever your readers are used to), you probably don't want to start a blog. Either way, make sure that your site is informative and that it contains content that legitimately answers people's questions and solves their problems. That's how you're going to show off your expertise and build credibility.

Pick your article directories carefully. The goal is to use them as a platform to get your articles syndicated. So, you'll want article directories that get alot of traffic.

I would shy away from focusing on a specific number. Successful article marketing focuses on high-quality content, but if you're so focused on meeting some kind of "magical" goal (like 80 articles), you might cut corners just to meet your objective - which will seriously hinder the success of your articles.

Plus, article marketing isn't something you're ever "done" with. Even after you hit 80, you're going to need to keep going.

Be careful that you don't rely on the article directories themselves as a link source. After all, your articles will all be published on PR0 pages - so, yes, you'll get a link, but not a very good one. But by getting your articles syndicated off the directories, you can build quality links with higher PR. Again, though, it will take high-quality stuff to do it.

A newsletter series or a short report is a great way to entice people to join your list. Then, you're right, as you go along, offer people legitimate information. If you just hit them with sales pitch after sales pitch, you'll get alot of unsubscribers.

    Good luck!!

I agree with the other marketers online. A very good plan to start with. As you have probably heard over and over again, TAKE ACTION! And another important lesson I learned the hard way. STAY FOCUSED! If you follow every WSO that comes out and every email from every marketers list you are on, you will never get anything started. Pick a project and follow it to the end. Best of luck to you.

The best thing I ever did for my IM career was learn copywriting.

I don't care if you plan to do affiliate sites or create your own products.

    LEARN TO WRITE COPY!!!!

It doesn't matter how much traffic you get if you can't turn it into sales.

Rob, the first plan always fails. But this does not have to discourage you tweaking and coming up with new things. Planning is just a theory, do not try to make it perfect.

Take action, based on what you just came up with, and see if it going to work. However, you need to know your priorities and where to spend the most of your time, so check this out: How To Prioritize The Key Areas Within Your Business? | Double Time Today

Wow genuinely amazed at all the responses!! Thank you to all for your help. I know there is a thank you button but I don't know if it is normal procedure to thank every responder who helped?!!?
I'm very exciting to get moving on this, I'll be getting the ball rolling over the weekend. I have a very strong work ethic luckily, and usually if I put my mind to something then I tend to get results. Getting to work will not be a problem.

If it's not to much trouble, I have a few extra questions.

What does getting articles syndicated mean?

Should I be posting all my articles at once to my site? i.e. from the day I launch or should they be "drip-fed" (have seen this term quite a bit on the forums), also how does this apply to when I then post these articles to other sites?

Assuming I do my job well (to a good industry standard) how long could one typically wait until seeing there site rise to a front page ranking? Or am i asking the length of a piece of string?

Again thanks to everyone for their help, hopefully other newbies can see this too and get some info.

    Cheers
    Rob

How do you mean use adsense? As in just drive traffic to my site and have adsense adverts on it?

I'm not to worried about it being long term, thankfully time is on my side. I kind of just assumed there was more money to be made selling products from clickbank or similar affiliate style sales than there was for adsense. I don't know why.
