Whats wrong with this?

I was surprised when this was an issue.
Because i was thinking of doing this even before i heard that they were doing.

Apparel retail H&M used technology to super impose their apparel on virtual models using real models faces.

Here is the article.
H&M admit to using computer-generated fashion models - Yahoo!

Someone pls enlighten me as to what is wrong here.
I am trying to see it at all angles as possible but i cant seem to see whats wrong.

Its like offline retailers use dummies/manikins to put match their apparel. So what is wrong here man. Totally dont understand.

Maybe they are trying to get free advertisement from this public stunt? lol..

The modeling agencies are not earning commissions on that.
THAT is what the problem is. lol

I don't see anything wrong with that -- except it might further influence unrealistic expectations today's young girls might project upon themselves. (Then again, that should be a private talk between mom and daughter.)

ya, agreed, that is another talk or topic, nothing to do with whether they can or cannot use that.

its part of marketing. why not ask the offline retailers to buy fat manikins so that fat people will feel comfortable.. and at the same time not paint an ideal skinny girl image in young girls minds.

      lol.. they are ridiculous.

This is absolutely the crux of the matter. By using CGI models, they can achieve what's perceived to be the 'pefrect' body every time -- thus making young women feel inadequate because they're, well, human.

To say, however, that it should be "a private talk between mom and daughter" is naive. Adolescents are not influenced by what their parents have to say about such matters -- they're influenced by the media and by their peers. That's just the way it is.

        yes i get your point..

what he is trying to say is that its besides the point.

ive seen parents influence their kids, not just telling.

        its about how u parent.
anyway again that is besides the point.

It has nothing legally wrong about this.

Like i said, why not ask the offline retailers to use fat or fatter manikins right? lol..

but i always see nice slim manikins.

so whats up with Computer animated CGI bodies of "online manikins"

another thing i would like to add is that it is very human to blame someone else or something else.

if someone is obese , blame macdonald.

if someone is diabetic, blame coka cola.

again, i have seen parents who influence their kids, and kids who want to follow their parents and feel proud that they do.

its how u bring up ur child.

unless u are talking about cigars and drugs, then advertising them is directly bad. that i agree. and even todays media do not advertise.

BUT still many teenager take up smoking for 1 reason [there are many but this is one that is significant] which is that it looks cool.

        WHY?

because hollywood still portray good guys being cool and always taking a puff just like how it always ends with the hero kissing the girl.
