Wordpress Squeeze Page?

Oi - I've always used html simply to create a salespage, a squeeze page and a thank you page with a product on it.. That's usually kind of it

Trying something different with the whole 'blog thing' and I'm just wondering if people use a wordpress squeeze page plugin, and if they do is it paid or unpaid? With all its bells and whistles, wordpress seems to still be lacking obvious features

I want a squeeze page to be an entry page without navigation etc.. Don't I? Seems silly to go and get a plugin just to create an empty page - especially to pay for one, doesn't it? Are people seriously really doing this?

Or have I missed something extremely obvious like a big red 'create a squeeze page' button?

Yea.. I kind of have the whole Genesis thing going and didn't so much want change themes. I was just planning on building up a blog for the first time in something I am actually interested in - so I just started building and then came to a sudden halt when I remembered I need the emails - and don't want to rely on a sidebar opt-in...

Yes, there are themes which can easily build you a wordpress squeeze page.

here's a free one from warriors Mark Hess and John Scwartz:

Haven't tested that one yet just saw it. Not affiliated in any way.

It is certainly possible to build a squeeze page without have to pay for plugins or premium themes, but you do have to have a bit of knowledge of how Wordpress works, and a little php/html knowledge also.

You can easily create or have someone create a full page template that is sans the header or menus. It's then just a matter of uploading the template via FTP to your theme folder. Once you do that, the page template will show up in the template drop-down menu when you create a new page.

If you're not a tinkerer, then just as Dominis says, there are some free themes that have squeeze page templates built in.

The other option would be, if your comfortable with building html pages, you can just build an html squeeze page and upload it via ftp to the root wordpress directory, and it will be on the same domain as your wordpress blog.

    Hope this helps.

Optimize press or profits theme are both ok to use. People like the flexibility of being able to change their site easily through WordPress but if a html page is working for you then there's probably no need to change.

html works but I really wanted a blog for once - while keeping the squeeze page to maximize opt-ins.

You did help - made me think! I am a tinkerer - and I was going to do exactly that but it seems I've managed to avoid paying anyone and now have 'landing page' as an option when creating pages within wordpress - removing all navigation etc - exaclty what I wanted. Blog + Squeeze = Happy

Thank you all for good advice (little shocked to see people are selling templates for $100+ :rolleyes you really can sell just about anything these days can't you!?

Though I'm not the OP, but thanks everyone for sharing these resources I was actually in need of one since I rather not manually make one from scratch for myself.

If you're already doing it fine using HTML then I don't see the need for a Wordpress theme or plugin to do the same. Wordpress themes and plugins are always going to have their limitations plus who wants to have to go and install and configure Wordpress every time they want a simple squeeze page? Not me. I also don't want to have to keep coming back and updating my Wordpress installs to prevent security threats.

Just keep using HTML. No need to overcomplicate things. Even if you are using Wordpress for your blog you can still just use an HTML squeeze page and put it in your Wordpress folder so long as you don't name it the same as any of the Wordpress files.

    Simple.

    Hey Tris,

I know exactly where you're coming from there. I was exactly where you are a couple of months ago. Then I learned about WordPress from scratch. It is the best thing I have ever done to move my business forward.

I started building a site mainly because by writing and doing what I learned from the instruction videos, it went 'in' better. It was very useful to practice on and is now a fully functioning site that I really enjoy.

The theme I use is the basic WordPress Theme 2011 and changed it around a bit. I added my own squeeze page from Aweber and have a small list...remember all this is practicing the skills needed to make an online business.

I am now moving forward very quickly and it seems to have taken over. I am upgrading it to make it look better with a better giveaway to build a list, and a new header.

Taking advice from various successful IMers, and many on here, I will be using Optimize Press with my next site. It has been sung about and seems to be the best for ease of use and flexibility.

I hope this has been useful.

    Best Wishes.

    Andy Moore

I uses html sites and its easy to pick up really nice templates here on the Warrior Forum. Although I do quite fancy me a bit of Optimize press.

Don't really think it has to be an either-or argument. Just which one is easiest and converting the best.
