
WARNING: Four Letter Word Inside
other since around 1996 when I registered my first domain
and had someone design a basic website to promote my
consultancy business.
Since then I've learned a lot. BUT, I had a distinct
advantage... I already had a lot of business experience
working for a number of large organisations. And, I'd already
set up and run a highly successful consultancy business
with a sales turnover of around £1,000,000 a year.
I already knew how to run a business, I knew how to market
an intangible product and I knew just how important it was
to test and track.
Over the years I've collected a lot of data on what does and
what doesn't work. I've tested everything from the pre-head
to the last P.S. on a sales page. I've tested just about every
type of online advertising from banners to exit pops and a lot
more besides.
I've experimented with just about every online business
process known to mankind! I've lost a lot of money through
stuff that failed and, thankfully, I've made a lot more
money from the stuff that worked.
Speaking of the stuff that worked, and finally getting to the
four letter word that I mentioned in the title of this
thread...
The single most important thing that I've done in all the
years I've been in business is work. Yep, I know easy is a
four letter word... but, if you want to build a sustainable
and successful business, then you have to put in the work
before it gets easy.
The moral of the story?
Be willing to put in the effort, be willing to try and to fail,
be willing to learn and be willing to change what doesn't
work and do more of the stuff that does!
