Should the amazon link open in a new window/tab or not?
What is better?
I can find arguments for both but i am not sure what is better...

Anyone here tested it and can help me out?

I'm a fan of open in new tab/window for all external links, so the person stays on your site longer. Technically though, it's all about the cookie w/amazon, so even if they surf around amazon for a while after clicking through, you're not losing out.

I get your point but if we are having a site that is made for amazon (that's what i am talking about) there is no real interest in keeping the visitor on your site the only interest is to get them to amazon and buy something isn't it?

i come to the conclusion that links that are at the beginning or at the middle of your review/text should open a new tab because the visitor will likly finish the review/text but if it's at the end of the review you shouldn't link to a new window/tab because there is nothing more the need to read on your site so just let them go to amazon and buy!

i think that is strategy is likly the best but if anyone things it isn't let me know

    Hi

I would say no, because once they are on Amazon you don't want them to come back to your site.

You want them to browse and shop at Amazon- get distracted by other shiny objects and buy to their heart's content.

Amazon does a very good job of selling and offering upsells and other item offers.

You get a commission on whatever they buy.

I guess the countering opinion would be, if they close the Amazon tab, your site is still there. But that doesn't really matter once they have visited Amazon because your cookie will stay live for 24 hrs. Long after they have closed their browser and whether or not they returned to your site.

it better to open a new tab so it may came back to look more from you . Rather than bounce out and provide you high conversion rate and low time duration on your site.

The ULTIMATE goal is to get your visitor to click through to Amazon and start shopping there, once they have done that my goal is accomplished so keeping them on my site is not important after I have reached my goal.

Amazon does a great job so I want them fully focused on Amazon at that point

      Kickin it on Amazon

I would always use another tab so they can keep coming back to your site. Also it helps reduce your bounce rate since your site is open longer.

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.
