New Article Your Site Or Directories First?

I"d like some expert input on that question myself.

there is a thread from oct (will look it up in a minute) where pros and cons
were discussed. If memory serves keep a good blog post on your blog and use a completely different article for EZA.

now that was just one person's take on it.

You should post your fresh unique content on your site first. If you choose to do so then after a few days submit it to article directories, you can change it around a bit or not ... Either way is fine, some like to change it a bit and some do not worry about it.

I have done both, submitted the same article and submitted changed articles.

I hope you don't mind me pasting my reply in here for you..

Here's what I do with each and every article I create, remember this isn't to be taken as the final word on the subject, but this is how I use my own content and it has always worked very well for me:

Step 1: Publish it on my own website/property first <- this is essential, the content is YOURS.. do NOT give it to a directory first. Putting your content first on a glorified made for adsense site like a directory is marketing suicide, put it on your website first.

Step 2: Tweak it a little and publish it to Ezine Articles. I honestly don't tweak it that much but I like to anyway just so that it has some added flavour for distribution. Your goal with ezine is to get other directories to re-publish it too.

Step 3: Tweak and expand, using each of the main points for a squidoo module on a lens and build a squidoo lens around it. (hence my hundreds of lenses that turn profit for me). Squidoo lenses can be quick and highly profitable, once you get into the swing of creating them.

Step 4: Mass publish it wherever you like, use iSnare if you wish.. it's a good service..

This has served me well now for years, and I can't even write articles that well.

While I am no article marketing expert, I have always put a new article on the site first, wait for it to be found by the SE's and than submitted it to the better article directories without any changes.

As James has pointed out, any changes you may make are optional.

I always separate my site content articles from submission articles, but if I were going to "share" my content with the directories I would definitely put it on my site first.
