Are You Looking To Make Some Extra Money OR Build A Business?

About once a month, I get into a discussion with folks about what people are actually looking for on the Warrior Forum.

Some folks say that others are here looking to learn how to build a real business.

Yet, the majority insists that the people who come to this forum are not looking to build a business, but rather to find a means to make some extra money.

It has been my experience that 148% of statistics are made up on the fly, and most people attribute to others the description that best matches themselves, believing the everyone is just like them.

Rather than to take people's word for what they think the Warrior Forum Membership looks like, I thought it would be interesting to ASK you instead of making assumptions about you.

Please answer the poll attached to this thread, and please explain to us why you chose what you did.

Thank you.

When I joined I was always looking towards creating a business that would get me out of the rat race.

I am happy to say mission accomplished in 2005.

I went into PLR way back then when I launched a product that did very well. After a year I offered PLR to it and sold mid five figures. That made it an easy decision.

Later I went to the recurring income model and have never looked back.

Good question and one myself and I have quite a discussion about on a regular basis. At first, I came here to learn how to make some extra money but it worked itself into a business. Even left my really good career to build this business and while it has been a bumpy ride, it has been a lot of fun, too. Very challenging and rewarding.

However, it still feels a bit loose - like I have some pieces to tighten up and some serious planning still to wade through to plot a solid course. It's a business but it gets a bit foggy when I look out a year or two and I need to do more to fill in the blanks. The forum plays a big role in helping me iron out those pieces.

I voted not sure. As of now, I just want it to be an extra source of income while I go to school...something to create a nest egg for the future. I'm young and constantly change my mind though, so who knows what I will want from this in the long run lol. The situation is fluid; and I remain open to adapting to the situation.

Of course you realize this poll is already doomed right? The ones looking to build a new business or expand an existing one, like me, will be the ones most likely to look at this post. The others are looking for the "get money" button elsewhere.

The business I'm building is part of my "mission" in life I truly believe. It doesn't involve any tricks, disposable domains, big launches for the big payday and then nothing until more money is needed, or anything remotely related to temporary.

In other words it's more like how someone like Amazon would build a business rather than someone just looking for some Christmas money (not that that's wrong or bad - just a different mindset and different set of goals and tactics).

A while back I posted a question about building a business to cry for (http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...th-crying.html). In other words something that runs in your blood and you're heavily invested in emotionally and physically and financially. Something that if it shut down you'd cry because you truly put your all into it. Something family can be involved in and take over when that time comes. That's what I'm building.

Aside from trying to establish myself as an internet marketer and build my contacts, my goal has always to use my skills to make internet marketing a full time business.

I'm happy to say that I am half way to my goal. I make some decent money, but I still hold on to a part-time job just in case things dry up online as well as health benefits from my employer, which is something I would need to establish on my own if I were to do IM full time.

    Take care,

    Kevin

I started in I.M. in 2007 when I had just got married and was living paycheck to paycheck. My wife was in school full time and I was working a hard full time job. I just wanted some extra cash to help with the bills.

However, when I joined the WF, I'd already been in it for a couple of years and had started making money. I joined this forum to take the next step and actually build a business that will eventually lead me to the lifestyle that I know I can achieve.

I work hard at my business and it's paying off. I'm looking forward to the day where more of it is automated and I can take a step back and breathe.

Success comes to those that never give up.

Long Term Baby! But doesn't it mean that you will also encounter extra sources of income along the way..If you do, will you just let it pass by thinking it will affect your long term plans or will you grab it? I guess that's a question for the next poll

I came here looking to make money and realised to do it consistently and reliably I had to build a business. It's getting there slowly.

Build a business, man! I came here for the EXACT reason TiffLee stated above. I wanted to find clients I could write for. Then I started reading and whoaaa buddy. I have a business model I'm building right now, a niche I never knew I had all along - something I'm REALLY passionate about - and exactly what I need to do has become crystal clear. I mean things are clicking into place so fast it's like I'm not driving this bus anymore.

      It's exciting stuff.

Never would have happened without WF. Cannot WAIT to see where I'll be in a year.

My observation is that there are a lot of people who come to the Warrior Forum with the intention of building a real business, but they want to treat it like they're just hustling a few extra bucks.

I've harped on this from time to time, but was told by a couple of sort of senior folks to leave it alone because most people here want to make a couple hundred extra bucks and that's it.

    Your poll demonstrates otherwise.

It is kind of odd that people with the other view point seem to be avoiding this thread like the plague...

Or maybe, the really lopsided results is trending towards building a business, because nearly everyone here wants to build a real business. :p

Honestly....I am looking for both. I want out of my 9-5 job. I have taken time off work for the last month and a half and have loved it being able to sleep in and be with my wife and kids throughout the day. I want this for my lifestyle and not have to worry about money.

I've no doubt that people come here looking to build real businesses. But you have to admit, there are an awful lot of newbie threads where people are just looking for a method to make quick money online. They are so impatient in fact that they can't have a good look around before posting questions that are answered here every day...!

I side with the majority here, both in the poll and the reasoning for the results. I think most have the intention of building a sustainable business when they start out but move into "quick buck" mode once they realize that success doesn't come over night.

I kind of disagree. I think that those people are always in "quick buck mode"; but after reading on here that the way to get the big money is through building a sustainable online business they change their "mindset". Really, they are going after the same thing, just using different terminology because it is kosher.

Well, when I first came here, it seemed like a very fun way to earn some extra money. However, as I stayed and read more and more and more, I began to see the potential that this industry really holds, the long-term potential.

I already know how to build a business and have the contacts and opportunity to make a killing. Why am I not doing it ? I've lost the motivation to and have frankly gotten to comfortable - that and living the fast life has taken that "desire" out of me.
