Do I need Google Analytics? Is AWSTATS not good enough?

Just wondering what Google Analytics does that the hosting provider's AWSTATS doesn't?

For me, I use both, but I have absolutely no preference myself. I think it is one of those things that you either like on or like the other.

AWstats isn't the best, it gives a picture that you have more visitors than you actually do. It's a bit distorted compared to Analytics

  If for some reason you do not want Google to know the ins & outs of your site then AWStats may give you what you need.
  If you are not worried about that then Google Analytics is the way to go.

I recommend Analytics once you worked out how it all works lol. I'm getting better at setting up sites on Analytics but then forgetting to check the stats regularly.
