Opinions please: which of these page graphics will sell the service better?

I'd like honest feedback as to which of my 4 different header graphic options is likely to SELL my service the best . . .

a) Natural Social Bookmark Service - find out how we are different!

b) Natural Social Bookmark Service - find out how we are different!

c) Natural Social Bookmark Service - find out how we are different!

d) Natural Social Bookmark Service - find out how we are different!

I did a) first, attempting to illustrate the USP of the site and service (ie. the most natural social-bookmarking service available), but thought it maybe looked too "arty" and maybe a more "corporate" feel to the site would sell better?

What do you think???

Any other comments on improving the site to sell the service better, would also be appreciated, if you have the time to look around the site. I will be adding testimonials as soon as I have some (I might offer a few free trials of the service, or big discounts initially, to get testimonials).

Thanks in advance for any advice on this, I've been inspired by the many posts here saying that selling services is the easiest way of making money in IM, so I am giving it a go

thanks very much for your opinion, Erik.

I think the page is far too basic and as a result, people will draw the same conclusion about the service you are offering. I also think the headers are all very amateur looking. It's just my opinion, nothing personal, but you probably aren't a graphic designer... which is ok.

Personally I would INVEST (not spend) a little money in having someone put together a nice, professional looking page for you. It might cost you a little extra money but it's going to save you a lot of time AND it's going to present your services and your business in a much more professional manner.

Sometimes you need to bite the bullet and realize when you are better off paying for a professional rather than fiddling around with things you are not so good at. I do it all the time.

I agree with this, I probably like D the most out of all of them but a professional designer will make it SO much better and for the amount they cost nowadays it will pay for itself tenfold.

I agree with Will. You have to remember that even though you aren't a professional graphic designer you are competing against professionals.

This is the first site that I find when I Google "seo services". I could be part of your target audience and I would probably be more likely to give them a second look for my business for the sole reason that it has a more professional feel.

A WP them at Theme Forest would be simple and effective for you, in my opinion.

      Best of luck.

I pick D as the best out of the bunch. I get what you're going for with the tree and soft colors, and I do like it, but it comes across as a little too "soft" for business.

Like the concept of your service too.

I agree that the site looks too basic and devalues the service you offer in the eyes of the customer. Im guessing you don't want to break the bank on graphics. I would go to Fiverr - Hire people to do things for $5 and find someone to make the header graphic for you. A good trick is to spend ten bucks (instead of 5) and have them do a good job otherwise you'll get a banner like the one you have...But yeah, tell the seller that you will give them a five dollar tip to make it extra nice

In the past, I have used a service like logo nerds to create a professional logo. There are services on this forum that can create several looks for you based on your ideas and give you a more polished presentation.

You'd be surprised at how much of a difference it makes, even if you do the rest of the page yourself.

      Thanks again for that info!!

I understand what people are saying. Actually, I am capable of creating any design myself, what I don't yet understand well enough is what to choose to do! It's not my graphics skills that are lacking, but my knowledge of how to persuade others to do what I want

thanks everyone for these really valuable comments . . . this is just what I need to know!

I personally like the "D". Has more design because of the banner.

Will, (or anyone else), can you give any examples of webpages that look more professional without adding unnecessary features. The only thing I will be adding to each page is a testimonial quote (when I have them). So how do I add more graphics or professional look, while keeping the usability simple, functional and "honest" (I hate hype, unncessary complexity etc. and I think that others do too).

Any example webpages with simple functionality and professional look??

thanks very much, this is just the kind of thing I need to work on

      Hey Chris,

I guess I'm not going to point out a specific website for you to look at...but as a full-time WP designer I think maybe I would be able to offer some basic ideas about what is missing. More than anything it is 'structure'. If you look at the WF site around us you see how the interior page is bordered, and differentiated, from the background gray color. Then, each piece all the way down to the very paragraph I am writing now is nicely 'blocked' in. Your site needs wayy more of that structure to the little bit of information currently on the page. Get a nice header graphic for sure (I am for D too, but that could change with a different look to the page), but it has a lot to do with how you frame it, and frame everything on the site.

      Hope that helps!

I don't know if anyone said it as I only read the first post (but I should imagine someone has), but split-test.

All we can do is give you our opinions and as 99% of us are not your target audience... Our opinions are worthless.
