Cheap .com Domain reg? Pref under $2

Anyone got some good links to cheap .com registration sites? I need to order about 10 of them, so I'd like to keep the price down to about $2 or less.
I'm ok using coupon codes too. Perhaps someone has seen a .com deal for buying in bulk? Cheers.

I don't know if you'll find anything for $2 anymore. Godaddy does $1 for new account promotions from time to time, but the renewal is then higher.

If you were to find a different registrar that offered something that cheap, watch out on the backend as the renewal could be huge or worse...

This site has some Godaddy discounts. I'm not sure that you'll find them under $2 though.

They do $1 promotions here and there but even still they are limited to 1 per customer.

The ICANN fees are something like $7 per year. Anyone selling one for less is taking a loss they expect to make up some other way.

As the others have said, very doubtful or if you do, you'll end up paying more in the long run. I see .in selling for $3.99 with my provider. If you aren't attached to .com, you can find cheaper.

Thanks for responses so far. With high renewal fees, wouldn't I just be able to transfer elsewhere when domain runs out? I've seen tons of dirt cheap transfer fees around.

It is pretty safe to assume, if you are buying the domain at a large loss from the company, they won't allow you to transfer or would have made their money back by then in other ways.

I would expect smaller registrars to be a bit dodgy in this area yes. Got a .com for $1.99 on yahoo (new accounts only). They allow transfers...or I can pay the $35 renewal after a year. Way I see it, my outgoings need to be low TODAY. If the site is making a lot of money in 1 year, $35 will be worth it to renew. Yahoo allow transfers after 60 days anyway.

I'd imagine Yahoo can afford to do that. I'd say, just read the fine print. Although a new account is different, many hosting companies even give a free .com when you sign up. I'd be shocked a company actually just sells .coms for under $2 unless there is a large hook.

You won't find a multiple $2 domains from legitimate companies. Maybe from a promotion, but that is only for one domain. Also, they'll get the money back some other way, perhaps renewals. If you want domains and no trouble there after, I would suggest purchasing them at NameCheap for $10 each equaling to $100 but staying completely safe.
