Are you a kick-butt copywriter?

Warriors Peter here, its been awhile since I've posted and it seems like forever. Well I've got a question for you and hopefully we can make some killer profits together.

If you review some of my post and watch the videos I've created you'll understand that I'm here to help out my fellow warriors profit and marketers in general, and profit most have by the content shared.

So here's my problem and if this is in the wrong section I honestly am sorry and ask that the mods please relocate it for me as I've looked and can't seem to find the proper place for this.

The short and sweet of the matter as I know we're all super busy, I've just finished a product that is massive in nature

* 2 content rich pfd's
* 11 jam packed videos
* audio interviews

and I'm completely burnt out, lol

Now I'm a decent copywriter based on selling and promoting a lot of high ticket items and making some good sales off of major product launches as an affiliate as well, but finishing off my product has wiped me out and I would like to know where the kick butt copywriters are in the warrior forum.

Share with the crowd what you think makes a good copywriter and what chops one should have to say their copy sells.

      Thanks Justin, I did go over there and have a quick peek, but I found a lot of beginner type questions being asked so I wasn't too sure. Maybe I'll pop back over there and get into it a bit deeper.

        I'm sure there are all kinds of criteria by which you can judge a copywriter. But the only one that really counts is results.

        Does the copy close the deal? Or does it cause the prospect to put up walls of skepticism and leave without buying?

  • A kick-butt copywriter is someone with real world sales experience. Perhaps retail AND B2B, maybe some cold calling experience thrown in.

    Someone who took that experience, and a passion and talent for creative writing, and turned it into a talent for writing persuasive copy.

    And I think you know where this is going. Yes, that is my personal and professional experience, and yes I may be able to help you with your copywriting needs.

    I focus more on making money than kicking butt.

    I'd agree that real world sales experience can help a ton. Direct response mail experience is a big plus as well.

    As stated above, all that matters are RESULTS.

    Best case scenario you'll find a copywriter who understands the psychology of sales, understands what makes people buy, and has plenty of experience using their own copy to sell their own products.

    If a copywriter has a track record of high conversions on their own products, they're much more likely to be able to sell yours as well...

    An even better situation would be finding a copywriter who meets the above criteria and happens to have a WSO with an insane deal on copy in their signature link...

      Yes, it's true that getting results for your clients should be a top priority for a copywriter.

      But it's much more than that.


      The world's greatest copy won't matter if...

      ... The right prospects aren't targeted (i.e. wrong keywords in PPC),
      ... The wrong offer is being made,
      ... It's the wrong type of product or one that the market doesn't care about.

      Any of those can quickly kill a promotion, regardless of how strong the copy might be.

      It's about developing a professional relationship and sometimes that relationship requires some tough love or stone-cold honesty.

      Like when I followed up with a client who raised their product price by 4X and watched his conversion rate go from 3.5% to a complete flat-line. I had to tell him the uncomfortable truth: that people weren't going to spend that amount of money for his product. My client listened and dropped the price back and sales returned to their previous level almost immediately.

      Not every project is a home run because it's impossible. Any copywriter who could deliver a home run 100% of the time either wouldn't write for clients or they'd charge 7 figures per sales letter minimum. Any copywriter with a lick of professional pride busts their butt to write their best copy on every project because that helps strengthen their professional reputation as someone you want to hire to write all of your copy.

      Clients who you've developed a relationship with will realize this and have more realistic expectations. Instead of expecting a home run every time, they will want the campaign to produce Positive ROI.

      That's where things like working with the client to test additional headlines, offers, bonuses, and so on make a difference.

      If you're a "kick-butt copywriter" and your copy tanks on the initial launch, then you're rolling up your sleeves and working with your client to figure out why... and then fix it. You're not ignoring your clients emails or telling them that they are out of luck b/c you delivered the copy as promised.

      Now, sometimes you have to use some tough love here... like telling the client that removing the money back guarantee on the product was a foolish thing to do... or that their new product price is too high and that it needs to be dropped to a more realistic level.

      That's why the "kick-butt" copywriters don't charge peanuts.
      If you're working your a$$ off for your clients success, then you have earned the right to be paid 4, 5, or even 6 figures for your help. You're spending the extra time on each client project, so you're not whipping out 10 projects per month either.

      Anyways, that's my opinion. I'm sure some of you will disagree but that's okay. This is just our opinions we're sharing here in this thread.

        Mike I truly understand where your coming from in regards to the copywriters point of view.

        I struggled with the fact of writing the copy myself because I'm intimately attached to the product, but then I wised up and talked to my JV partners who by the way some are copywriters themselves and have done quite well and all have decided to get the copy written by another top gun.

        So far the people I've been in contact with have been very cool and receptive and again Mike your right there has to be a bit of a match for both, so the task gets done right.

        Funny how I keep hearing from other marketers that most copywriters are arrogant, man not sure who those marketers were dealing with but I haven't come across any of that.
