Does your FB Like link point to the current page, or your fan page?

Many sites feature Facebook Like links at the end of a page.

In some cases, clicking Like makes your profile Like the existing page its on, and that gets shared on your social feed with your Friends.

In other cases, sites are setup so that clicking Like will make you like the site's Fan page, rather than the individual article you're reading.

If you use the Like button, which method do you use, and why?
If you were a niche blog, which method would you use, and why?

Looking forward to learning your opinions!

Wow, good one! On my site, it likes the actual page you're on... I was asking myself the same question last month... if it was better to profit this for a facebook page... hope we get more input

Hi there, thanks! Since neither one of us is sure, maybe this is a case of noobie minds think alike? Also hoping we'll get some input.

Same question can be asked about Twitter I guess - a tweet this page vs. a follow us link.

Since I can't decide I've been using all of the above, but I'm worried that if I give too many options people will choose none. Here is what is directly under all of my articles
