What would you do....

If your online business model was affiliate marketing and you were looking to scale up, via outsourcing ( hiring one full time guy/girl to begin with ), what is the first thing you would hire someone for?

  • Content writing
  • SEO
  • Market research
  • Website design
  • ETC.....

All the best,

    Content writing.

Content is king. Get lots of content, and use it well.

Creating content takes time, time better spent doing other things IMO.

When I saw this the very first thought to my mind was writing content! You can know everything about IM , or can be learning about it all the time but without some place with great content you wont get anywhere! Content is king! and rinse and repeat!

What exactly do you mean you hire affiliates?

      Are you a product creator?

I was actually thinking along them same lines.

Hire someone first for JUST content writing, and the next person I hire would be a linkbuilder.

Instaed of hiring someone who is 'ok' at both hire two seperate people who are excellant at the two seperate jobs.

      Would you agree?

You should go with whatever your biggest weakness is IMO. For me, that would be a website designer. I feel I have a pretty good grasp on all of the other concepts.

I think market research (finding a niche and keywords too)

Because that is the most crucial factor.

Even if you have a great niche, great product, brilliant content etc, you have to make sure you know what keyword to target, to make sure that keyword is a BUYER keyword, and only than you can think about the other factors. I also think, that you should do everything by yourself. At least few times. That way, you will be able to choose the right service provider in the future.

      Good point!

I guess if you get the initial research wrong and try and target the wrong keywords than it doesn't matter what your content or on page SEO is like, right?

Would you hire someone on a full time basis to do market and keyword research?

I think the reason behind hiring a content writter first was because I would see content as one of the most time consuming tasks that really needs to be done, and done really well, daily either for your website are article marketing.

I think with someone who is good at writing content you could easily train them to do forum commenting aswel for maybe an hour or two every day.

      Any thoughts?

I would say the two important ones are seo and content. Seo will bring you alot of visitors for free and content will bring you return visitors.

It depends on you, your skills, preferences... What takes you most of the time?

I am outsourcing content writing from the beginning, since I really suck with it. Link building is the most tedious part, so I would leave that job to someone else as soon as possible.

Yes content is quite important. You need to have good copy and something that will covert or the SEO won't matter.
