Split Testing - How To? Help Needed

Hello,

I need help with understanding  how to do split testing on opt-in pages.
I know you have to have at least two versions and they must differ by just one element. Let's say that I want to split test four opt-in pages, looking the same except for the headline for the first test.

As far as I understand, they must go in some sort of rotation, whereas the traffic goes to one URL, right? So when I send a solo ad to 10000, they all go to that one URL which is showing different versions of the page. Is that right so far?

If yes then how do you put those pages in rotation? This is the part that I have problems to understand.

I know that for example traffic exchanges offer rotators but with their own banners, so I don't want that.

My big question is: how do you put the tested pages into rotation, technically?

Thank you very much for any advice you can offer.

  • You need some sort of split testing software that A) rotates your Squeeze Pages (or the content within your squeeze page) and B) tracks goals on your Thank You page.

A quick Google search will show you a number of split testing scripts.

Check out google optimizer...its what most people use. You want more than just rotation, you want tracking too.

...and combined with this one gave me the full picture. Thanks Augie.

      Off to work then.

Still, any other new ideas are welcome!
