Personal Question to All Affiliate Marketers

Hi everyone
I have been trying for over a year to make affiliate marketing work as my job/primary income source.
I have had extremely bad or no luck.

As I am on almost every affiliate marketing experts mailing list, the only niche I every see is the make money online niche.

I have been told by many people that affiliate marketing is just a scam and no one makes money at this except the GURU's in the AM niche.

Is anyone out there REALLY making enough profits through affiliate marketing to live on?
Is this all a scam?

Thanks

Funny I should read this thread because I came to the same conclusion like last week after trying it for a few weeks, do i think it now ? Not really, floating around these forums and other websites such as flippa you can see peoples reports of making money on affiliate websites. Some are $10 PCM or $100 PCM, but you have to work hard for it.

One thing I will say and this might upset people is this - an average person will not make it as an affiliate or IM, its just the way the world of internet marketing works, some may make the odd $ but never anything enough to say comfortably "this is my part time job"

Now these websites making money on affiliate products, some hit $1,000 PCM+ with evidence, but these people are EXTREMLY lucky, much like those who win the lottery are lucky.

Selling information online isn't easy - and yes i agree with your statement of IM being a scam, i have purchased 3 WSO and all of them were poor quality, they claimed i could make $100 in a day, i lived by these WSO methods and still do now and to this day with the methods used I have not earned a single cent.

Will I ever give up the dream of making $1,500 a month to quit my day job ? Nah, I don’t accept failure as an option because I believe it doesn't exist, you only get the answer wrong.

One tip I will provide is be careful of people claiming they can help you make money online – 95% of these people make no money and play on your need to get the golden apple. Everyone knows how to make a $1,000,000 in their life time, the only question they need to ask them selves is do they know it yet.

Affiliate marketing is most certainly NOT a scam, saying that though it is not for everyone and like the post above me says not everyone is going to make it and in fact most will fail.

My advice to you is don't give up, if it was easy to make money online everyone would be doing it.

Don't you think that's a daft question to ask on a forum for internet marketers.

Wrong, they are not lucky, they put hours of hard work, research and knowledge into practice without relying on "get rich quick" schemes.

If you want to make money online, get some common sense and stop buying into all these programmes. Anything you can find in them is freely available on the internet, you just have to put in the time to research them. Most of them are full of nonsense.

If you're the type that wants everything handed to them on a plate, you're never going to make it in internet marketing.

If you're the type that's prepared to put in the work, then your efforts might pay off (this is what unsuccesful people call "luck")

WOW! Look at the stuff I've made bold. And you wonder why you're not making it.

In the first one you say you've tried affiliate marketing for "a few weeks." Guess what? It take longer than that. It's a business not the lottery.

Then you say IM is a scam. If that's what you believe you're never going to make it. Why? Because consciously you make some minimal effort and unconsciously, your heart tells you it doesn't or won't work or it's dishonest. This is called internal conflict and until you can believe selling online is something other than a scam, you're not going to make it.

Then you say you won't accept failure as an option but your attitude is dripping failure. You don't have a freakin' chance until you get your head right about business and marketing.

95% of the people selling stuff onlins aren't successful at it and they just play on your needs? Ahh... Okay. I'm not going to bother asking how you've come to this conclusion only that it's complete BS.

Guess what? Until you change your mind about people and business you're your own worst enemy. Truth.

Well, affiliate marketing definitely isn't a scam. You can make loads of money from it and there are many examples.

Of course, you gotta have knowledge, and lots of it if you want to do big numbers in IM. It's a process, not an overnight thing.

Also, it's a lot more difficult for a newbie to start off today than it was for those 10-year experience gurus promoting IM stuff to you. I myself ain't an old dog in this IM game.

The times are radically changing - old dogs becoming more powerful (elite marketers), newbies having a real hard time to kick start their business and make their first $100.

Those new web designs, evolution of Facebook, Twitter, mobile marketing etc. are really telling us something is BIG is gonna happen. Or, at least, everyone is gettin' smarter these days!

    Cheers,

    Ray

IM Gurus who're creating and selling information products such as "How to make money online with Affiliate Marketing?" allude themselves as "affiliate marketing experts".

Wrong, people write things on their websites, blogs, and newsletters for own purposes. Don't believe that they're 100% true.

Affiliate marketing works. I did it 3-4 years ago, and stopped because it didn't give me enough results due to the effort.

    Is this all a scam?
    No.

I don't understand how anybody can come to the conclusion that it's a scam.

A scam would mean that you don't get paid when legally you're supposed to. Look at Amazon - they pay their affiliates every month.

The scam must originate from people blindly following info products written by people who don't know what they're talking about. This is as much your fault as it is there - use your head!!

So in short, of course it isn't a scam.

The thing is a lot of people are hoodwinked into believing the hype of making easy cash with little work. Get real, you will need to invest time and money in order to get great returns. Affiliate marketing does work -very well even in 2011. All I'm reading here are excuses.

    DanRC and to everyone else,

The question I pose is this: Are you treating the opportunity like a business or a hobby?

What is the difference? Are you following a proven system? Do you have a business plan? Do you have a business mentor?

I have done several things over the last 10 years and the three things I have learned is: Follow a mentor, Follow a business plan and follow a proven system.

I found a very simple blueprint to follow by Kyle Tully's The Lost Blueprint

I have been following Liz Tomey and Jeff Dedrick for coaching and mentoring.

These are the things that really will make a difference. I will have a product out in the next little while about affiliate marketing with a squeeze page system by Liz Tomey and myself. Feel free to friend me and check back. I should have it up in the next week or so.

    Hope this helps.

    John

Just so long as people have "needs", there will always be a place for affiliate marketing. You should really be cautious to reduce it so quickly to a "scam". If affiliate marketing is done the right way, EVERYONE should win:

    1) the Affiliate wins because they instill value and earn a paycheck
    2) the Company wins because sales are driven. Even though a % goes to the affiliate, both the affiliate and the company make out.
    3) When Affiliate marketing is done correctly, the buyer should walk away having gained value.

With all this laid out, how could one reasonably consider Affiliate marketing a "scam"?

It is definitely NOT a scam. You can make good money doing this. When I first started I felt the same way you did. I would build a little site with frontpage and then wonder why nobody came to my website. Eventually I came across someone who mentored me for a few months, and then I saw things completely different.

Maybe thats where you are at. A point where you need to see things differently. It takes time and effort, but you can make some really great money with internet marketing.

a WSO was a scam so affiliate marketing is a scam.

that's like saying my burger was cold so fast food is a scam. utterly ridiculous.
