"New" AutoBlogging methods without duplicate content

There are so many ways to set-up autoblogs, and most here probably read the threads about setting up blogs and using plugins which pull from youtube, articles directories or yahoo.

There are other ways with big potential:

Blogs like blogger or wordpress have a wonderful feature that you can "post to them" via email.

Google itself offers "Google Alerts" where you can specify keywords, and then it sends those alerts to your email. The nice thing about G alerts is that you can get emails from Google News, but also Videos or from Blog searches.

But here is one great idea:

You make a gmail account and set up a simple forwarder on Gmail to forward mails to your blog!

You sign up on your favorite mailing list or Yahoo groups where people talk about a certain topic.

All those mails are then sent via email to your blog.

The fact that Wordpress and blogger all support receiving blog posts via email or RSS opens up many ways to supply content to any blog.

Yikes that's really smart. Does Google Alerts leave any other text in the email, like "Here are your Google Alerts for today..."?

Yes - this is something I tested a while back. You get your normal stuff on the bottom of your mails. However if you do it semi-automatically i.e. you forward the mails manually, you can add the following text to the bottom ...

    :end

That stops anything else being added - like signatures etc.

    Cheers

You can use these with several of the rss plugins out for WP.

You can save the alerts as RSS feeds and then just use that feed with whatever plugin you happen to use on your WP powered site.

    You still get duplicate content.

Depending on the plugin you are using though this still is good. Because you can hold the posts for review and then supply them as you see fit.

Another way to use it to your advantage is for idea starters for content you can post.

Say you have a site on a particular cell phone. And you have Alerts set up with one of the plugins you can use to syndicate rss feeds. If the plugin is set to hold the posts for review then all you have to do is do a quick summary of what the original says.

Then you get fresh original content. And Alerts does all the research for you.

As I keep pointing out - if you don't do the extra work to make the content unique in some way, you're likely just wasting time, disk space and bandwidth. Unless you have a REAL good reason why the search engines should favor YOUR copy of the content over the copy on that PR7 article directory over there...

its not dupe content since yahoo groups send out to mailing lists. Nothing is indexed. That's the whole point
