Best Hosting for First Timer?

Like it says.

Talk to me like I'm dumb. (Lets pretend).

Once I reg up a sweet domain....where should I host it.

I hear people whisper HostGator...some say...pst psst....Go Daddy...some say...pst pst..and I cant hear them?

Thanks

ALSO

I posted this before and no one did answer Moi...so here goes again.

Say you got a site. Say that you dont want to blog that site up. Cause you dont. Do you got to?

I see sites that are highly ranked with only a few pages on them.

If you do a review site....do you need a blog or can't you just toss up some reviews?

Thanks people.

Also, anyone reccomend a decnt A to Z (including b) guide to set up a site. I want a Step by Step guide to set up that site like a boss (Patrick Duffy style)

psst Hostgator simply is the best solution if you take customer service, uptime, features, price and user experience into account

When I was just starting out and knew nothing about backing my sites up, they actually restored my db after the content had been deleted by a hacker.

I've had very few problems with hostgator, and they've always given me quick answers and done a very good job in this regard.

To answer your second question.. well if you're not only going after low competition keywords, you need to have quite a few sites indexed. A blog is great for updating your website with fresh content, and get's you a good amount of traffic from the longer tails.. but you don't have to install it in the root of your domain.

If you don't want to, then just install it in the root.com/blog directory

I use namecheap for all my domains, and hostgator for hosting. Actually I switched from godaddy to namecheap and I love it!!

Basically, this is what I do, too I go with the business hosting only because I needed the SSL for my e-commerce website, but otherwise, if you're going with hostgator, you would probably aim for the baby package especially if you are looking into hosting more than one domain via Hostgator.

And of course, namecheap because they're one of the top providers for domain names (their hosting is another story from the reviews I had read about them...)

Man all I can say is don't go cheap on your hosting or it will cost you in the long run. Not saying go an buy the most expensive either, but take the time to do some research because you don't want you empire to vanish on you out of thin air. This had happened to me before with shady hosting.

The guy above me pretty much summed it all up - HostGator does seem to be the favourite for most IM.

Just remember that starting out you wont need the most expensive package, the cheapest will do for you on starting up. Only thing you need to consider is will you have more than a single domain ? If yes then a cheap multi domain package might be more up your street.

As for the blog - You dont have to open a blog, you can install wordpress with a good template / theme and turn it into a very nice looking "website", saving you having to out source the work for a web developer.
But as far as recommending a blog goes - I say have one for indexing a SEO purposes.

Go with a cPanel host, eg HostGator. This will make it easier to move your sites if you need to in the future. You can try them for one cent here.

hosting24.info, you get a free domain name for life enough bandwith and u dont have to pay a year up front, if u use coupon code:25% . also with a gold account u can get a dedicated ip at no extra cost. otherwise hostgator is good and bluehost is good. But last time i checked a good package is $160 + for a year while u can pay hosting24 monthly.
Also hostgator and bluehost will charge extra for dedicated ip and privacy

basically go for a host that at least has the latest php and uses cpanel and preferably fantastico as well fantastico is nice if you're a beginner.

    Good luck finding a host.

ps: u can find a free guide on my website on how to start, it's on the tab "free guide" near the top of my page.

Let me just chime in with the others and say HostGator. The price is right, it's simple and easy to use, the customer service is outstanding, and they have all the best features for people in IM....very user friendly. I've worked with a variety of different hosts while tinkering with client sites, and I've hated most of the other hosts I've had to become involved in using in my offline business. For my online activities, and especially my own sites, I'd never use any other host but HostGator. It's always such a relief when I work with a client who already has it. It makes things so much easier for me.

Pssst you crack me up lol.

Hostgator is the way to go. I recently transferred my site to them from some unknown cheap hosting provider and low and behold things/plug-ins which weren't working with that host are working as they should be with HG.

Also their customer service is really good. They actually stay with you for however long it takes until you get your issues sorted; going that extra mile when needs be. Unlike some who tell you they can't fix the problem because it's not a hosting issue blah blah blah ...

I like Hostgator cause of their cPanel feature which alot of internet marketers use. But i honestly like Yahoo Webhosting. They have 24/7 support, documentation, blog creation, and are cheap. And they have a good website building tool for building your website (Yahoo Sitebuilder).

I personally use GoDaddy.com for all my domain names and websites. We have businesses that depend on our web presence, and they have always provided top-notch service.

Also, there are discount codes online if u search for them. Not to spam for them, but I think they are very low priced in their market.

Well, for ease of use due to their user interface and customer support, I'd have to say Godaddy. I started out there, and my first several domains (some with sites built on them, some without) are still hosted there.

I've been using Namecheap for some time now, though, and I prefer them for other reasons.

Although the companies mentioned here are well-worth the money. You should also check the WSO section for some pretty amazing WSO offers. I picked up this WSO for epic hosting platform with unlimited add-on domains for only $6 a month. This basically means you can create unlimited websites on this hosting platform and you will only have to pay for domain names in the future.

Here's a quick rundown for you...

    1. For domains use either namecheap.com or name.com (both have very similar pricing and good support). Look for coupons online.

    2. For hosting just go with hostgator.com. They are really good at answering questions and their servers are decent. Can't go wrong.

I would stay far away from all "special offer" hosting providers. When **** goes wrong, moving sites to a new host is much harder than you might think (if you're a beginner).

Hostagator every time, without a doubt.

Their customer service is absolutely superb - they have a live chatline, where you can get any problems sorted out immediately. They will then send a transcript of your conversation to you via email, which can be really helpful if you need to refer to it again.

I use NameCheap to register my domains, again because of their great customer service

So, I would definitely recommend Hostgator to host your domains. Their baby plan is only a few dollars a month.

      Good Luck.

I've been with bluehost for 3 years now and had mostly good experiences with them.

They have lots of 1 click installs for things like wordpress and analytics and you can buy domains from them (although they are a little more expensive) which simplifies messing around with nameservers.

Customer support is quite good too - I can usually resolve any tech problems quite quickly with their 24/7 live chat service.

HostGator is the best Web Hosting site for beginner Internet Marketers. I've had a great experience with HostGator - The prices are reasonable, the technical support staff are very polite and friendly and the interface is just plain simple to use.

When I first signed up for HostGator, they needed me to verify the account and I was concerned about the international calling fees when I call to the US from Singapore, in South-East Asia where I live. It's expensive and the calls cost a bomb! Their 24/7 hotline is toll-free, meaning that they will pay all the charges for calling them via Skype, and the Online Chat system is equally effective.

My blog is also run on Wordpress, and HostGator is the only web host that has this "QuickInstall" function that installs Wordpress with just a click of a button. Simple, easy and effective.

I will recommend HostGator to anyone that is just starting their website.
