Foreign Languages, Google Searches & Finding My Web SIte

1) Can anyone recommend a good (free or low-cost) accurate language-translation program I can use for my web sites? (Besides English, I'm looking for Spanish, German, Dutch, Japanese and Chinese).

2)I'm confused about how that would work with Google:

Let's assume one of my web site's keywords is "weight loss". Obviously, that's built into my web site in English. When someone in, say, Japan enters "weight loss" in Japanese into Google, would Google's results' pages even list my web site ... which is in English?

And if so, is that "summarized entry" (my site's 'Title' or whatever that's called) on Google's SERP, or for that matter, my web site, shown in English or in Japanese?

If shown in English, that does me or Japanese people little or no good, unless they happen to know English. Is there a way around that? Like trying to get the Japanese translated version of my site well ranked? And how the heck do you do that?!

Or having a note in that "summarized entry" (my site's 'Title?) saying that it's available in Japaneses ... but that would have to be written in Japanese, right? And the other languages, too. Confusing.

Can someone help me out?

    As a LITERAL answer to your question, NO!!!!! There are too many problems. Current translation programs are better, but NOT accurate! Some words CAN'T be translated! In german, difficult COULD translate as heavy. In English, the term "Cost an arm and a leg" would translate very differently in Spanish. And what about taxes, currencies, disclaimers, comparisons, etc...?

    Google would likely work as it does in English. NO translation is done in the search! The following query:

    +imdb +fernsehen +punky +brewster +soleil

    doesn't present any sites that refer to punky on imdb. 8(

    +imdb +punky +brewster +soleil

    Brings her up FINE!

    +imdb +punky +TV +brewster +soleil

    Brings her up fine!

    +imdb +punky +TELEVISION +brewster +soleil

    brings her up fine!

    FERNSEHEN is german for TELEVISION.

    Switching to the DE domain name simply changed the GOOGLE text to german.

    BTW the language indicator, if even used, seems to be ignored! In short, Googles search will guess based on soundex, and SIMPLE logic, and suggest, but otherwise sees text as text, and not any kind of language.

        Having lived in Japan and occasionally used the Japanese Google, I can answer that question for you.

        If someone types in "weight loss", it will likely show pages in English. However if you type it using the Japanese characters, you'll get Japanese. Same with YouTube or anything.
