How to get a HIGHER CONVERSION rate .....

Can you help me?

I don't know what the forum moderators will do with this post but I am looking for suggestions/comments/copywriters to help me increase the conversion rate on my sales page for a mini-niche site.

(MODERATORS - this is seriously a micro-niche site and I do not think there would be much interest in this page or this product for anyone here)

how-to-make-wine.net

is the site. It does OK for my mailing list but when affiliates market it, it converts a whopping 1 in 500!!! Wooo Hoooo!

You can post suggestions here or you can PM me with quotes for work. I have been tweaking the thing for a year and can't seem to get it right.

Help me Obie Wan Kenobe.....

    Hey there,

This is my first post so take it easy on me, okay?

I'm (very) new to Internet Marketing. I love to write and have some experience writing copy, but mostly articles. And I'm pretty darned good looking...

All partial jokes aside, as a no0b, I find that a lot of "affiliate managers" don't do a great job of helping their affiliates find success.

This is just my personal opinion, and I have no idea what you do to help your affiliates succeed, but maybe taking a look at how you're helping them help others is a start?

Just a random suggestion from the new guy...

    Good luck,

    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,

Welcome! I have hundreds of affiliates that send traffic to my sales page so getting affiliates isn't the problem here. I also have an affiliate page that tells affiliates the best ways to monitize their efforts and get conversions based on my experience.

The problem is that almost all affiliates just send people to my sales page. Not the review page I recommend, not the free sign up page I recommend, not the "create a list" way I recommend.

They just throw people at my sales page.

So what I need is a better converting sales page.

Again, welcome to the forum, thanks for the comment!

      Mike:

To be honest with you, you're sales page looks really good to begin with.

If I were to improve it, I would probably highlight that 5 star review you got more. And maybe see if you can get some more like it (get a publicist and get on TV and radio shows) to improve your credibility.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to coach your affiliates more so they send you more targeted prospects.

    Hi Mike,

    How about video?

A short video of you making wine and then testing it with your family friends etc. People like to see what the product teaches in action. People prefer to watch and listen to short videos than read mountains of text!

Just a thought? I think this would help!

    Mike,

I see what you're saying... You provide all the support your affiliates need, they just don't listen. So you have to adjust.

It would be very exciting to take a crack at redesigning the page and rewriting the copy. I'd do it at no cost if I can use you in my portfolio...(points are always nice though :-)

Worst-case scenario is that you waste another week of web hosting - hey, it's less than the year you've spent so far.

    I won't beg, but if I have to... puh-leeaase?

    Good luck either way,

    Brandon

      Brandon,

Feel free to redesign all you want and email me what you've got. I'll put it up and we can see what happens!

Positive results will yeild positive feedback and your portfolio will be enhanced. I'd be happy to agree with that.

First, looking at your title, do you think people prefer to create wine for their own use or to re-sell it?

What if you change your approach to teach people on how to build profitable wine-maker business?

And the design...well my friend...the design of the website is not attractive at all

In most places, you cannot just make wine and sell it. It takes mountains of paperwork and licenses and approvals.

Use it to test your sales page. Remember, your affiliates will always send you traffic like that, regardless of what you tell them.

Test, Test, and Test. It is in your hands to figure out a way to grab your traffics attention. Whether it is putting a video squeeze page in front of that sales page, or just by putting a video or audio on that page.

Be creative. It is your business.

Mike, if you're saying you are doing OK with your own then it's probably not a sales page problem. Your affiliates may not be sending targeted traffic at all. I've had experience sending thousands of not-so-targeted traffic and not a single sale happened.

    Mark,

I have checked out a lot of the affiliate sites and pages and just about every one of them is a "How to make wine" site.

I would consider that pretty targeted. In fact, one affiliate has a great winemaking site that ranks on the first page of google and sends about 100 visits a day - I love that guy.

Anyway, he's only getting 1 in about 500.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions so far. I'll do a video - actually I already have a video of where we substituted a bottle of homemade at a fine dining restaurant and then asked the customer about it!

That would probably be a good one.

Also - I will change the text and tell folks about the 5 Star review.

    Anyone else?
