Hello,

I own the domain name ultra-deal.com.
I have emailed the owner of ultra-deal.fr if he would be interested in buying my .com domain....
He is interested and is asking me for the price, I have no idea what I should ask, what would be reasonable? Ofcourse i would get the maximum price possible but i have no idea what price would be reasonable...

maybe someone with some experience in the field can offer me some help.

Hehehe, good lesson. If you are going to sell something and approach someone, you should have a number in mind before suggesting.

I would suggest spending some time on a domaining forum to get some idea.

Hmm i cant seem too find the domaining section, do you have any indication i could use as to estimate the price i should ask for the .com domain? the base value is around $1000 according to stimator hower if u look at some godaddy premium domains the pric is significantly higher. i think some domains are a bit too high, would $ 15000 be reasonable?

i think ultra-deal.fr is not that huge of a business but i am not sure...

You can't estimate the price. The price is what someone is willing to pay for it. So if you want to sell it, make up a price and see if they're willing to pay it or ask them to make an offer.

I agree with this. And the price the person is willing to pay will be dependent on how valuable they feel the domain name is to them. If you are getting a lot of traffic and the domain is producing income, then you can sell it for a lot. However, if it's not doing anything except taking up space on the Internet, then you probably won't get much.

Start with a high number, but leave the door open for negotiations.

this depends on a number of factors, I can summarize them into the current value of your website and the potential of the website.

The current value is determined by the keywords you are ranking for, the traffic you get to the website, do you make money from your website, do you have a list etc each one of those if available can increase the price.

By potential of the website I mean how much the website can make with some more effort, for example are you ranking in the second or third page of google with any of the website's pages? is there keywords that you didn't target yet that the buyer can create pages about them and rank easily in google?

Answer all these questions and when you decide the price draw the picture for him to make him feel that the domain worth the price you are asking for.

I would say $1000 is a good deal, the website is in french, nowadays country level domain is quite popular so the owner of the .fr domain do not really need a .com unless he's thinking of going for global market

Well, I would work out how much their site is worth first. See what monetization methods they're using. Think about how much they earn from whatever is offered on the site.
