Got #1 on Google - Question About Link Building

Hey

So Once you have gotten to #1 position in Google for my keyword and the competition isn't very hard can you slow down on link building?

Can you work hard them slowly drop down the link building after you have had the ranking for a month or two?

I know this will affect your link velocity and of course the amount of links your building but does anyone have any advice on what they do or have done?

    If you were aggressive before, I wouldn't go from all to nothing.

    Decrease your efforts slowly, watch the results. If it drops, you'll know the answer...

    Keep providing valuable content via articles, press releases, videos, etc... and linking those articles, press releases, and videos to your site. Broaden your search terms you are targeting and try ranking for similar search terms that people will be looking for on the search engines in regards to the product/service your website is designed to promote.

    I am not #1 yet I actually stop link building for 2 months I guess, now my ranking is getting worse. So, to stop is to ruin your ranking and your efforts for the past months or even years.

    I agree that you should continue to build links because it's easy for your competition to blow past you with more relevant backlinks and content if you all or a sudden stop.

    If you got your number position by building links like crazy then all of the sudden stop, it would look very unnatural from the search engines point of view. Cut down slowly as per the advice of an earlier poster on this thread.

    Maybe it's not yet 100% true but it will be: CONTENT IS KING! If you provide relevant, valuable, and unique content, the REAL backlinks will come. Google is increasingly becoming very good at making content king.

    Build just enough backlinks to stay there. Then focus on the next phrase.

    Over linking is wasted resource. It makes me wonder if some people
    in this post have ever ranked a phrase at number one.....

    I would say a nice cron job or RSS feed will take care the job.

    Or you can simply make a few fake warez site's with beautiful woman half naked and other sexy postures ............can you say "mgid" entice your audience

    Let's just say in a nice way it gives your product or site a bump not everyday but every minute!

    Look for my project coming up soon in late December who needs traffic every month when you can get it every minute of the day...........in the hundreds an I have the seo tools to prove it!
