Are autoresponder emails copyrighted?

I have subscribed to a marketing system that had a built in autoresponder service. Over the past 30 days they had nothing but technical problems where emails were no longer being delivered. I cancelled the service.

I have a copy of all the autoresponder emails that the marketing system used.

Are these autoresponder messages copyrighted where I can no use them with another service such as aweber?

Yes, as soon as the words are put in print, they are copyrighted.

For example, my answer to you here has copyright protection, because I wrote it.

It is not necessary to register a copyright, in order to enforce a copyright.

This is an important point that a lot of people miss.

To the OP: I wouldn't assume the company's sequence isn't registered, either. If they registered the copyright, you could be looking at significant penalties if you use the material and they sue.

What was your arrangement with them? You were paying for their service and this included the right to use their email copy? If so and you stop, I doubt you can use them.

Otherwise, put them in your "Swipe file" and copy their points and structure to your heart's content--just not exact words.

These were the email messages that people received when they subscribed to my list. Most marketing systems include pre-written autoresponder emails.

Thanks for the info everyone on the copyright laws. In my case, I doubt they registered the email messages with the copyright office. They do not even have a tos on their site. But like everyone has stated here, anything written is automatically copyrighted.
