I have my keywords and I'm going to outsource the content writing for the first time. Does the 5 to 10 articles that I see mentioned include the privacy policy and other common pages or is that strictly targeted content?

My keywords could work well with Amazon or Adsense. Is it, typically better to focus on one or the other?

Should I let them sit for a time before building links? Like wait a week and then build one link then a few days and build a couple more and gradually increase the rate? I've had problems in the past with niche sites not ranking or ranking and then disappearing after some link building. I'd really like to do these right. I'm excited about these keywords.

I don't understand the first question but maybe I can help with the other two.

By using adsense, do you mean you want to place them on your site or advertise your site through them? If it's the first then I'd say do it along with Amazon. If the second, then I think that you should hold off on that. Build your site with your Amazon store or links-whichever you're using-and then work on connecting with your potential buyers (if what you're doing calls for that type of content). After you feel you have at least a good base to work off of then start putting out ads.

With your sites losing their rankings, it could be google temporarily giving them some time at the top then bumping them down to whatever their algorithms decide is appropriate. Link building may possibly have some effect, but I personally wouldn't worry too much about it. Just do what ya gotta. Getting and maintaining a good ranking can take time. But that's whatever other methods of advertising are for. Such as PPC, articles, squidoo, and so on.

    Hi twotoofs,
As far as the article writing goes, normally it will not include your common pages like a privacy policy, that's something you can get for free and install yourself.

As far as adsense goes, I would include it on your site off to one side. and amazon links on the other side.
As far as links go, I would start building right away but don't just flood it with 1000 in a day, it needs to look natural, also you should keep up regular link building and adding content to your site to increase and maintain your rankings, when you stop adding content and links depending on how competitive your keywords, you can quickly lose page rank and get bumped down.
    I hope this helps ya!

Privacy policy shouldn't count for the 5-10 posts. You can split those 5-10 articles up over the first month though. If you did 10 articles, I would post 1 everyday for a week, then split the rest 1 a week, opinion might vary on that though.

I don't know the type of articles you are going to get, put if it applies, you could put the adsense on the top and sides with the Amazon links in the post itself.

I would start building links slowly as soon as your first post is up. You can start posting on social bookmarking sites right away with that!

    Hi,

There are no exact number of articles you should have to get ranked, I have several top ranking websites with just 1 article on the front page. However, it is always of really High Quality and I usually link out to related pages on authority websites.

There's nothing bad about trying to cover a subject with more articles but I don't beleive that there is an exact number.

    So don't obsess about that!

My experience on backlink building is this; If I invest in very good content that's highly optimized, provide a good user experience, link out to related authority resources and is somewhere between 1500-2500 words, I'm able to build the backlinks in any speed I choose to.

By having a solid foundation, really good content i.e, you have very little to worry about because not only the search engines will like it, but your visitors as well.

Getting cheap High Quality Content Tip: Go out and find the best article you can find on the keyword you're targeting, preferably one that has gone viral. Have it rewritten for a few bucks. It's very often cheaper to have an article rewritten because there's no research involved.

    Hope that helps
    /Daniel

There should be no hard and fast rule about exactly how much content you should add.
The extra pages (contact, about etc) i don't include as part of my content - although you can set up them to include relevant content, in say the about page.

So how much content you have on your site will vary a lot, one site I have it's a very broad health site so I have lots of pages targetting a lot of smaller level keywords which all add up.
On the other hand I have one site which pretty much picks up all of its traffic on 5 or so very in depth long-ish pages.

You can gain a lot from having less content if it is higher quality so don't assume that putting up a whole bunch of cheap content will be an instant success.

In terms of amazon/adsense, I tend to use both assuming there is products that I can target. If there are no relevant products then it goes adsense only and conversely if it makes more sense to target the site towards products then that is what I do.

The key is to not stick to one formula as every site will give different results, oh and also test test test to maximize your results
