Multiple Domains or Targeted Pages on One Domain?

I'm going to test some things out but thought I'd ask here first if anyone has tested.

For some of my smaller long tail keywords, I was considering:
1 - setting up a lot of individual sites targeting each keyword
OR
2 - creating targeted pages on just one domain - making sure those individual pages are backlinked and have lots of relevant content

Any experience that you can share what would be better for me to do?

It depends what you try to achieve.

If you want to rank for keywords that are not connected at all: get separate domains (example keyword one: nice flowers and keyword two: beautiful cars).

If you want to rank for keywords that are related it's better to build a larger site.

Hey Jenn - I'm assuming all keywords are related? If so, I would HIGHLY recommend you just use one domain with multiple targeted pages. You will have a bigger site with more content which is always better for a ton of reasons. You will be able to concentrate your efforts on one site. Backlinks you send to one page will benefit all pages. These are just a few of the advantages.
