Yo, I Need To Know What Approach That You Guys Take On Pricing...

Hi,

I am totally at a loss and have
to get this question out...

I have tried many variations and tactics, but
no matter which way I go, no results...

Do you price products for the recession?
(meaning priced low, but *looks* cheap)

Or do you price as you usually would?
(chance missing out on those with limited funds)

I like the recession, cheaper way better, but some
will look at the product like it's a piece of crap, when
in all reality, the product is quite good!

Both ways do not work for me and I am totally
lost on this whole pricing thing!

Also, what is the best price point that you
have acheived the most sales with?

I know TEST, TEST, TEST... but with no time
to do that, I need some immediate results!

Help me out here... GEEZ!

Jamie

honest opinion? i never, ever, change my prices.
i don't make up any BS prices just because there's some kind of recession or just because there's someone with an equal (but lower priced) product in my market - i just charge what i think my product is worth.. if i think it's worth $xxx, i charge $xxx.. if you combine a very good product with an outstanding SUPPORT, you'll always get sales / customers / clients.

I wouldn't change prices, too. They don't depend on economic developements, they depend on product quality and the hype you can create around them.

Your product looks really helpful, PHP is certainly extremely powerful and learning some PHP basics would help most people more than 100 "SEO and SEM secrets" ebooks, but unfortunately it's lacking "sexyness". It's about "learning" and "scripts"...not about "You could be a millionaire next year", "Guru secrets revealed" or similar.

Unfortunately, greed triggers sales alot better than common sense. People love screenshots of checks, screenshots of 6 digit adsense accounts, screenshots $xxx in sales daily, testimonials of broke guys living in moms basement buying a Ferrari after a year. Most potential buyers in the IM niche have a dream, they want money, quick, easy, everybody can do it.

You tell them how to improve a long term business, but the sad truth is that most want a "click button, make money" guide, they don't want to work alot, build websites or a real business...they want the elevator to success (even if it's crowded and gets stuck at the first floor) and neglegt the stairway.

      Hi,

My suggestion is linked to clickbank or paydotcom. Are you putting on there for affiliates to promote for you also? Do you check out your competitors similar products? If you have a quality product with a great looking sales page, you are more likely to get affiliates promote your product than someone elses product whos sales page is naff. Therefore, maybe price it at a price that will encourage them to promote your product and at the same time they feel it will benefit their subscribers, webstie visitors etc.

Surely it doesn't matter how or what you price your product/service at so long as the buyer thinks he's getting a bargain.

To put it another way... would you buy $5000 for $4,000? Sure you would. $4000 is a lot of money.. but you would be getting something worth much more.

This is the same with anything.. if you're offering somebody a service and when they get to the price and they feel its so cheap (compared to what they get).. why wouldn't they buy?
