Niche Site: Doing Something Right & Wrong

Hello, I'm new to Warrior Forum but have been lurking for awhile.

I created a niche site (or at least one that I think is a niche site) last month and have seen more traffic. The site is Sports Jobs Training (.) com. I think I have good content because its something I'm familiar and experienced in. I published articles on Ezine which are number one on google & my site comes up on the first page of google as well as my twitter account.

I originally had adsense on the site, but it seemed very tacky (no offense). None of the links were fluid to my site, so I removed it. Instead I have added Amazon Affiliates and set up a widget of related books that readers may be interested in.

The issue now is - how can I really monetize my blog and capitalize on its accomplishments thus far? Do you think my site is actually a niche & if not, what can I do.

Side bar - I created the site to generate money. I picked the topic once again because I knew I could produce good content because of my experience in this field.

Thank you!

You have probably read this heaps already, but if you are good at writing content then write a small report or guide and get people to sign up for it and build an email list.

That way if you write a new article for the site you can email the list and bring the traffic back. Then now and then throw in an email about a new book on Amazon using your affiliate link.

Thanks EzyTrader. Although I've been getting traffic, I'm unsure of how interactive my visitors are. I utlized a little ebook to see how many of them would leave the site to read the story and I got 50 views. Maybe when I make the second part of the second story, I can use this idea - however, I guess I need to learn more about building a email list. I'm sure there's something about it on the site somewhere.

      Hi Henry,

How much traffic are you getting? Have you analyzed your traffic sources to determine what your visitors really want by coming to your website?

      1) If you can determine what they're looking for,

      2) and that they're willing to pay for it,

then there's no reason why you can't be making good money with your website. You just have to find the right offer to present to them, whether it's your own product, an affiliate offer, CPA etc.

      Hope that helps.

That's the first thing to do once the site is live.

Secondly, to increase traffiic, first publish your articles on your site, and only then submit them to the article directories. This advice comes from a post by Alexa Smith, and I think she knows what she's talking about. Basically, if you can make an article rank high in Google, it will drive the traffic directly to your site! If you rank an EZA published article, it will drive only a fraction of the traffic to your site. And your primary goal is to drive traffic to your site.

As for monetizing with advertising, you might want to analyze the amount of traffic and if your site is really a traffic magnet, sell the advertising space directly to interested advertisers.

Adsense, Amazon, and Clickbank are OK, too, and do not require much work on your part.

It sounds like you are doing great so far! That seems like a good niche to me (I haven't done any keyword research, are there a lot of people searching?). As stated above, it sounds like something you could monetize best with an ebook so start collecting those emails and get writing!

P.S. Kudos to you for thinking of visitor value and removing adsense because you felt it didn't add to your blog instead of thinking of the short term money. (I'm Not bashing adsense as I love it myself).

Thank you all. I guess the email marketing is the next step for me. From what I'm seeing from my visitors is that my posts on direct tips on how to get into the sports industry are the most popular rather than any other posts on degrees, etc.

concentrate on building your list... also, I'm not familiar with that niche, but I guess there could be affiliate programs with better payout ... maybe something on Clickbank in that niche, if you don't plan to sell your own ebook or report... but anyway you go, concentrate on the list...
