Renting Out An Office | WTF To Put In There? + Serious Hardware Upgrading

I've decided to rent out an office overlooking the river Thames mainly as a work space and a little area to chill from home.

I'm upgrading all my current PC/Laptop systems.

Basically need some suggestions how to make a really productive work environment.

Pictures of your current Office set ups / Monitors /PC's Set ups would be really appericated.

I would recommend staying as minimal as possible, and don't buy a bunch of stuff until you've moved in to the office and see what you really need.

I once bought an office, and spent a lot of time and money on furniture and equipment. Then after working there awhile, I decided I didn't really need all that stuff, and I preferred working at home anyway.

so really... I'd start with your computer, desk and chair. And see how it feels and add on stuff after you start working there.

If you've never tried working with multiple monitors, I would recommend trying out a dual display. I can't live without it now.

The one other thing I would recommend if you don't have one is a whiteboard.

I've heard of people using dual monitors, but what are the advantages to this? I mean it's not like you can use both at the same time...or am I missing something?

I completely agree with the minimalist approach.

"Really productive work environment" and "a little area to chill from home" in the same space doesn't make sense to me. The "chill" part indicates distractions from work to me.

Sounds like it'll be a cool office!

Erm I'd suggest looking online at the office supplies merchants, I personally hope to get the home office sorted by Summer. Take your time and make a list of all the furiture, technical equipment and accessories you may need. It can actually be pretty expensive to acquire everything but hey awesome to have your own space.

I can see what John is saying here, but some people work better in a more relaxed environment? I dunno...

Yeah I think you are, when I had dual monitors it was very easy to switch from task to task. You can have twitter open, your mail account, auido maybe? Windows media player on one screen whilst browsing the internet, or for example posting content on the other! It does help, honestly.

    Have a good evening
