Authority Link Network questions

Hi all,
I've recently joined ALN and set up some blogs to receive articles. But the articles contain backlinks to sites which are totally unrelated to the article. For example, an article called "Spam E-mails - How to overcome the Nuisance" contains the following paragraph:

"Your own facts could be ripped off or you may be compelled to download malevolent program. In the event that, when you loan personal consistently getting spam web mail in your email address contact information, then deactivate that identity and build one more fresh postal mail identity."

The phrase "loan personal" is linked to a loan-related website obviously, but the loan link obviously has nothing to do with the article. A further two links in the article go to sites about loans and Krakow.

Is this normal?

Andy

Its normal for spam / automated backlink building software - it will crawl where ever it can to leave its URL mark and hope that the forums auto approves comments / admin will approve them if the user creates a preset comment.

The idea behind it is to get 100 low ranked / poor backlinks to make up for a good backlink. It does work, but very poorly and it gives the website a bad rep in alot of cases.

Welcome to the wonderful world of splogging for backlinks. I hope you have your hip boots on, because it's going to get real deep, real fast...

I agree and with Google regularly updating their alog. I'd avoid this sort of stuff.

yeap... and keep in mind that when your PR drops to zero you won't be able to post your own articles to the network... and it WILL happen because of the crap that people will be posting to your site. Had a PR3 site go to PR0 within a month... THANKS Authority Link Network!

Thanks for your input all. I wondered about the loss of PR.

Still, you can get PR 1+ domains from Godaddy auctions relatively easily, for maybe $8 for a PR2 (I've bought a couple which I set up in ALN), so $8 every month or two to get some high PR links (albeit that they lose their PR over time), is cheaper than something like BuildMyRank.

OK. I'll keep an eye on it for now, and consider it an experiment.

        Thanks again,
        Andy
